n Medians in Ocoee get
a beauty treatment
In an effort to “green up” Fifty West,
Ocoee’s Community Redevelopment
Agency started re-landscaping the
medians on Old Winter Garden
Road between Maguire Road and
Blackwood Avenue. Work is expected
to wrap up by July 31, weather
permitting. The westbound lanes will
remain open during construction;
however, the eastbound inside lane
is closed. Construction hours are between
7:30 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. on
weekdays.
The project includes planting new
palms, oaks, crape myrtles, shrubs
and ground cover. Irrigation will be
installed, and a fresh layer of mulch
will finish up the refresh. Concrete will
be installed in the median closest to
Blackwood Avenue, where it is too narrow
for plants to grow successfully. The
CRA has more plans to beatify its redevelopment
district, Fifty West, which is
defined as the area between State Road
429 and Clarke Road, and the Turnpike
on the south, north to Story Road.
