Dear singers,
We are delighted to invite you to the region of Flanders for the World Choir
Games 2020. We are excited to introduce Flanders’ hospitality, beauty and music
to a new group of international friends.
Flanders is a vibrant, creative and innovative region sitting at the heart of
Europe, with music being part of our DNA. As a centre of excellence for singing,
we have over 30,000 singers who are excited to share our musical tradition with
you, and learn about your traditions as well.
The 2020 World Choir Games will be held in two cities, Antwerp and Ghent.
These cities combine hundreds of years of history with youth and energy, and
will be the perfect hosts for the Games. The excellent transport connections
throughout the region mean you will be able to explore two unique destinations
during the event, and our superb links with locations across Europe and the rest
of the world will make getting here as easy as possible.
The region of Flanders, and Antwerp and Ghent in particular, is diverse, inclusive
and multicultural. Our kaleidoscope of cultures and ethnicities is reflected in
the rich variety of our architecture, music and cuisine, as well as in the open,
welcoming nature of our people. So, wherever our World Choir Games guests
come from, in Flanders we will welcome you with open arms and make you feel
at home throughout your entire stay.
We believe in the power of music and we believe the World Choir Games is a
huge opportunity for choral music to act as a major force for good. In July 2020,
Flanders will be a place where choirs of all cultures and social backgrounds will
come together to learn, to connect and to celebrate their love of song, and we
hope you will join us for this inspirational event.
We will stage a truly global gathering, blending history with modernity through
the finest traditions of Flemish craftsmanship, innovation and warmth. In 2020,
Flanders will become the World’s Singing Stage, and we can’t wait to welcome
you to our beautiful region.
