Built as a designated complex to provide facilities for the Department
of Music, this structure consists of an office wing, an auditorium and an
open-air amphitheatre. The complex was officially opened with a series
of concerts in 1961 and a gala concert in 1962. A mechanical-action pipe
organ was installed in 1976. In 2012 the Music Library was expanded in
the office wing, a new foyer was added to the auditorium and accessibility
was improved. Since its opening in 1961, the Musaion has remained
a model of acoustic clarity. The Musaion accommodates just over 500
patrons.

Rautenbach Hall (University of Pretoria)
Festival Office
The Rautenbach Hall occupies the lower level of the Aula Complex. It
is used for exams and dinner functions as well as art exhibitions and
conferences. Large sliding doors on both sides provide access to the lift,
the Aula foyer extension to the east, a landscaped courtyard and food court
to the west.
