Northern Territory Regional Profi les - Barkly Region
Public Administration and Safety (excluding Defence) is the largest industry in
the Barkly region, accounting for 24% of employment. Much of this (39%) is
attributable to CDEP.
Agriculture accounts for 16% of the workforce and is the second largest industry
grouping in the region.
The region accounts for 2.0% of employment in the NT. Within the industry base
of the NT, the Barkly region has a high proportion of workers in Agriculture (13% of
employed persons in the NT who work in this industry are in the Barkly region) and a
low proportion of workers in Manufacturing (0.2% of the industry is in the region).
