h. modification. External light sources shall not be visually intrusive into the pedestrian environment and lighting
options include:
1) Direct lighting;
2) Back lighting;
3) Halo lighting; and,
4) Internally-lit letters;
i. Neon signs are permitted only with prior permission from the Director of Development Services, with design
and construction plans requiring City approval before installation.
j. Identification signs within a single development should be similar in design to enhance consistency and
identity.
k. Except as specifically listed herein these Guidelines, all other signage and sign standards shall comply with
the City of Cedar Park Zoning Ordinance.
7.5 OPTIONAL MASTER SIGN PLAN
For sites larger than One (1) acre, a Property Owner has the option to establish a Master Sign Plan which may differ
from these Guidelines:
a. A “Master Sign Plan” shall include unique sign standards including size, color, type, design, and location.
b. Any proposed Master Sign Plan shall be submitted to the City Manager (or designee) for evaluation consistent
with the following criteria:
1) Consistency – Promotes consistency among signs within a development, thus creating visual
harmony between signs, buildings, and other components of the property;
2) Compatibility – Enhances the compatibility of signs with the architectural and site design features
within a development;
3) Context – Encourages signage that is in character with planned and existing uses thus creating a
unique sense of place; and,
4) Character – Encourages multi-tenant commercial uses to develop a unique set of sign regulations
in conjunction with development standards.
c. Any proposed Master Sign Plan must receive approval from the City Manager (or designee) prior to
construction and installation.
