998 CENTRE MAIN STRAP<br />

Following on from the popularity of MED’s centre main<br />
strap for the 1275 is a new version for small-bore<br />
engines. The centre main strap strengthens the centre<br />
main cap area of the block that can be a weak spot on<br />
higher performance builds. For a high RPM road or<br />
competition engine it makes an excellent upgrade. The<br />
new strap is CNC-machined from billet steel and<br />
features cut-outs for the thrust washers. Also included is<br />
a pair of high quality studs and nuts to replace the<br />
standard bolts. The standard main cap will need to be<br />
machined to suit.<br />

MED VERNIER BELT DRIVE<br />

The MED vernier belt drive kit replaces the traditional<br />
timing chain setup with a high-quality gates belt,<br />
aiming to dampen any potentially damaging<br />
harmonics from the valve train. It is easily adjustable<br />
to perfect camshaft timing in situ. And the updated<br />
design removes the tensioner to allow for a more<br />
compact setup, enabling fitment on both <strong>Mini</strong> and<br />
inline (Sprite/Midget) engines. This unique new design<br />
uses a <strong>Mini</strong> primary gear oil seal for the camshaft and<br />
a readily available seal for the crankshaft. Features<br />
include a CNC-machined aluminium housing with<br />
removable cover to enable access to camshaft timing<br />
without removal of the crankshaft pulley.<br />

LASER WHEEL HUB HOLDING TOOL<br />

New from Laser Tools is this wheel hub holding tool, to hold<br />
the hub steady while the axle nut is removed. Designed to<br />
work with four- to eight-stud patterns it lets you hold the hub<br />
and driveshaft steady while torquing up the shaft securing<br />
screws and can be used to hold rear differential yokes on<br />
solid axle vehicles during bearing service. A 0.5-inch drive<br />

breaker ignition in the form of this ‘fixed point’ electronic<br />
ignition conversion that fits inside the stock distributor cap!<br />
This fit-and-forget ignition system is suitable for 43D, 45D<br />
and 59D negative earth distributors (part number LU1423A).<br />
<strong>Mini</strong> Spares can also offer similar systems to suit early 23/25D<br />
negative ground (part number LU142) or early 23/25D<br />
