The Advanced County
Commissioner (ACC) education
program is an advanced leadership
program designed for graduates of
the Certified County Commissioners

conference in June.
(CCC) program. The course focuses on leadership with an
emphasis on the future of Florida. Participants are tasked with
preparing for the future by thinking and acting anew and asserting
skillful leadership in times of daunting challenges and rapid change.
“Commissioners who choose to participate in the voluntary program
have shown their commitment to the future of their communities,”
said Florida Counties Foundation Director Eric Poole. “By
bringing together veteran commissioners from throughout Florida,
this program provides a foundation for commissioners to work
collaboratively on Florida’s most pressing challenges.”
Organized as a series of three seminars, the ACC program is
completed after 27 hours of total course work. Participating
commissioners must commit to fully participate in all three
seminars. This year’s seminars focused on Preparing County
Leaders for Florida’s Future. The University of Florida/IFAS
Extension has sponsored this program for the last ten years in
Alachua County.
Manatee County Recognized as a Healthy
Community Champion
The Florida Department of Health is proud to recognize Manatee
County as a 2018 Healthy Community Champion. Citing the
county’s dedication to providing access to bicycle routes, parks,
greenways, farm stands, a community orchard and a formal
comprehensive employee wellness program, Manatee stood out as
