BRANDON HIRE, a leading name in the tool
hire industry, has been acquired by Vp plc and
is expanding its offering, supporting events
from garden parties and weddings to week
long festivals and country shows.
With a history of success in the event hire
sector, Brandon Event Hire has supplied
equipment to events including Glastonbury,
Armed Forces Day and MTV Presents: Ocean
City Sound. It is now developing its success,
which to date has largely been based in the
south, to offer the same package nationwide,
and will be heading to the Showman’s Show
in October for the first time to showcase this.

JCB Power at
Jimmy’s Farm
JCB POWER Products, working in
partnership with rental customers ABBA
Plant Hire and Mather+Stuart, delivered
the power and lighting for this year’s
Jimmy’s Festival, a two-day music
and food festival in Ipswich, Suffolk.
Organised by TV presenter Jimmy
Doherty, at his Jimmy’s Farm location, the
annual event is a celebration of music,
poetry, arts and culinary excellence.
To ensure that the festival could be
efficiently set-up and run, JCB Power
Products provided portable lighting to
the site, with the help of ABBA Plant,
and power generation through the
Mather+Stuart generator rental division
of A-Plant. In total the company provided
six generator sets, three of which were
powered by JCB’s own highly efficient
diesel engines.
“When you set up a festival, it’s not just
about the two days of the event,” said
Doherty. “It’s about the run-up and the
set-up, and the behind the scenes team
is absolutely critical. That means having
the kit, having the power, the lights and
having the tech to make it all happen.”
Mather+Stuart provided the site with
a G40RS rental specification generator
set, along with two G60RS units. It also
delivered one G100RS and two G200RS
generator sets for use throughout the
festival. Both models are powered
by JCB’s Stage IIIA Dieselmax engine,
delivering low fuel consumption, reduced
emissions and low noise levels. All of
the generators are equipped with JCB
LiveLink for Power, ensuring real-time
monitoring of performance and fuel
consumption to prevent any risk of
downtime during the festival.

Saniflo Makes Posh Portable
Bathroom Facilities a Reality
SANIFLO UK – designer and manufacturer of pumps,
macerators and shower cubicles – is helping to take the
concept of portable toilet facilities to a whole new level with
the supply of the Saniaccess and Sanishower to Hampshirebased
Site Equip.
Family-owned and run business Site Equip has been
supplying temporary WC facilities across the UK since 1988,
and recently decided to satisfy a demand in the market for
posh portable bathroom facilities with the launch of two
upmarket trailer units with integrated bathroom facilities, suitable for disabled customers.
Made possible thanks to Saniflo, the mobile units feature a shower, basin and flushing
WC. The Saniaccess macerator removes waste from the WC and the Sanishower removes
grey water from the shower. Both units are located behind a separate panel at the back
of the trailer and are connected to the appliances via pipes that run under the floor and
through the panel. A holding tank outside the trailer connects to the discharge pipes that
discreetly run out of the trailer floor.
Site Equip co-founder, Geoff Gilbert, said: “Using the pumps has enabled us to offer a
high-quality bathroom to disabled customers at events, festivals and parties. We firmly
believe that the same level of facilities should be on offer to all. So far, the two new units are
working out very well and we plan to build at least 30 units per year following the positive
