it lacked inspiration…” says Belinda. “There was an old Aga, a<br />
cork floor, a central heating boiler behind a false wall and formica<br />
everywhere.” Much to everyone’s delight, the false wall not only hid<br />
the boiler but also a wonderful old brick fireplace. Now the owners’<br />
favourite room, it is painted in a moody French blue by Paint and<br />
Paper Library, with the wonderful name ‘Btwn Dog & Wolf’.<br />
“The starting point for this room, was this fabric,” says<br />
Belinda, gesturing to the curtains. “Our client absolutely loves<br />
this ANTA plaid fabric and we debated where to use it. Not<br />
only is it lovely and cosy but it’s great with this wall colour.”<br />
The sofa and footstool were made bespoke, while the<br />
antique farmhouse furniture came from the owners’<br />
previous home. Gilt-framed Victorian paintings hang over<br />
the fireplace while a cluster of smaller paintings decorate a<br />
corner. The overall effect is calm, cosy and uncluttered.<br />
