Of course, anyone would feel “empowered” when they have that much control over everyone around them. Alexander McCaine must not have known that the devil is a spirit. The devil is the god of this worldly system. The institution of slavery was “ordained by the devil Himself.” When you can’t discern spiritual things, it is easy to think your success is from God. The slave owners lived a good life. But I am sure Alexander McCaine was a white man who reaped great benefit from having slaves at his beckon call. Yes, I said beckon call: To have a slave available to serve him at a moment's notice, it is a subservient position. I am sure that felt like heaven. But it was the
devil escorting him to the gates of hell. I would never say, he went to hell but the devil was surely working overtime to adjust his life. We must understand the Almighty God of Heaven and earth will never condone such destructive and hideous behavior. God will never go against His own word: Matthews 24:35 Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my words shall not pass away. You can know the ways of God by knowing and rightfully dividing the word of God. Take a close look at these scriptures.
