Myra, Mayor Phillips would have received<br />
the same cool, controlling treatment as<br />
Mayor Joseph Alexander. So we understand<br />
why Mayor Phillips was “allowed” to stay in<br />
office. She didn’t ruffle their racist feathers.<br />
Besides that, Myra was the unofficial mayor<br />
of Cotton Valley. Not even the white folks<br />
were going to push her around. Don’t<br />
misunderstand us; Mayor Comerdis Phillips<br />
is a very kindhearted and loving person.<br />
