TRACK OF THE MONTH:
'Ladders' by Mac Miller f t Jon Batiste
& Stay Human
‘Ladders’ opens with an arpeggiated eerie synth
before breaking Into retro style keyboards with Mac
singing in acapella style. A funky four to the floor
disco beat drops. Funk guitars and 80’s style synth
chord stabs get things moving along nicely, A
cool laid-back rap and singing vocal by Mac really
makes this track come alive in the verses
finished off In the chorus with a great stand-out
chic style horn and brass section.
I particularly love the live version which featured
on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, 14th August
2018. Other favourite’s of mine from the Swimming
album Include the intro track ‘Come Back To Earth’.
There is another cracking live version from the Hotel
Cafe of ‘ Hurt Feelings ’, which Mac posted on his
own Youtube channel one day before he passed
away, Another awesome track is ‘Whats The Use’
and, of course, his new single
‘Self Care ’ which has a great message and video.
