life’s a beach
Beach weddings are a favourite amongst many future
couples and for good reason, but, before you start dreaming
about running across golden sands into each-other’s arms,
make sure you’ve asked yourself these important questions.
Will I be able to walk in high heels? Unless the
beach you’re getting wed on has a wooden walkway
you intend to use as the aisle, it may be best to opt for
a smaller heel, a flat shoe or even no footwear at all.
Whichever option you go for, make sure the length of
your dress still allows for this.
Will my guests be able to find shade if it’s
extremely sunny? We all want the sun to shine on
our wedding day but it’s crucial to consider what will
happen if it’s too sunny! Make sure that your venue
can supply parasols, if necessary. In order for them
to match you colour scheme, consider getting rental
parasols priced up and hired as a back-up. Supplying
sunscreen and plenty of water is also a smart way to
ensure your guests stay hydrated and cool.
What will happen if it rains? Well, firstly, you’re
allowed to have a bit of a tantrum, but just a short
one. Then, think about your plan B. Beach resorts
will more than likely have an indoor option close by
to use when the weather isn’t playing ball. Whilst this
is not ideal, your venue will have dealt with it many
times in the past. So, breathe and crack on with the
indoor option, until the sun comes back out to play
at least.
If I choose to have the reception on the beach, can
it be catered for? Having a sandy wedding reception
on the beach as the sun sets certainly does sound
dreamy and some venues will allow for it. From a
caterer’s point of view, it’s all about accessibility.
Caterers will need to transport all of their delicious
food and drinks to the beach, so tee up a chat with
both the venue and caterer to see if this is possible.
Tables and chairs must also be considered – no one
wants to eat dinner off a wobbly table whilst sitting
on a chair that’s half wedged in the sand.
