Fabeyonce 

“What I Serve” 

When I first started drag I wasn't sure who I 

was going to grow into. Being inspired by so 

many queens in our town of Palm Springs, I 

just started working hard, learning, and taking 

advice given to me by the "others". I’ve never let 

criticism bother me. I always took it as a way 

for me to better my art. 

I leaned more toward the Latin side of me and 

started to push the Latin music and learning 

artists’ but then realized I had to cater to a 

whole different crowd that was coming to the 

show. 

I found myself watching videos on how to 

do makeup, brush wigs, paint nails, etc. My 

makeup was so simple and easy before, but then 

I found out what foundations to use, which 

eye shadows, and threw a pop of color on this 

face, snatched this nose, chiseled my chin, and 

contoured it all up. 

I went from 1 body cincher to 4, padded 

this ass, and became Fabeyonce, your thick, 

voluptuous, Latin Glamazon. I had a huge boost 

of confidence (not that I didn't have it before). 

But I stayed true to who I was. A loving, caring, 

sweet queen and always a gentleman. 

I try my best to stay away from drama and 

negative peoples as I don't care to be associated 

with them, but I always share my love. 

I remember not knowing what to wear as I 

shopped the clothing stores now I make sure 

everything is made just for me. 

My style has changed from: not showing

much, to not being shy, to showing it all off. I

I’m so proud to be performing alongside many 

fabulous queens here in our city and in other 

cities. I feel the love when I'm booked out of 

Palm Springs. Someone once told me “You is 

kind, you smart, you is beautiful”. I held on to 

those words but now realize they are lines from 

the movie “The Color Purple” (hahaha). But 

receiving compliments helped me know that 

I am doing something right and I will always 

push and thrive to be better than I was the day 

before. 

There are times when I let others get the best of 

me but then my mother said “Others are gonna 

be mad when you’re doing the right thing, so 

keep your head up and prove them wrong”. I 

will take those words everywhere I go and make 

sure I give you all the show you come to see. 

I would also like to point out Brunch every 

Sunday at Rio Azul in Palm Springs every 

Sunday night and right after, come down to 

Toucans Tiki Lounge and check out these two 

amazing shows and catch me at both places 

working it out for ya. You can also catch me 

at Hamburger Mary's some Saturdays with

This is the 17th year that the Highway 

Open Studio Art Tour has been offered. 

Communities along the Morongo Basin 

participate through the artists. This is a 

unique opportunity to visit directly with 

the artists in their work environment. 

This year there are 150 artists in 90 

locations of where the participants 

are located.. The range of art 

includes, drawing, painting, sculpture, 

photography, jewelry, metal arts, etc etc. 

There is a multitude of varied art that 

will be for sale and observation. 

Included in this article is a sample 

of the variety of art to be seen and 

appreciated in this event. The samples 

include various art creations by Scott 

Lloyd Doten, sculptor, Paul Morehead, 

photographer, Linda Schrader, painter,

are just a sampling of over 150 artists

best comedian, actress and improviser I 

can be. After my Trump mask scandal, 

I learned very quickly that I simply had 

to up my game with my material and 

be truly fearless about it. 

You went through a tough, tumultuous 

and controversial year and 

came out victorious. Your world 

tour, Laugh Your Head Off, is a 

smashing success, selling-out quicker 

than you can add dates. How is 

the sweet smell of victory? 

Like a brand new lavender scented 

candle. Honestly, it has been a slow 

and laborious claw back, but completely 

worth every up and down. I have 

enjoyed doing the Kathy Griffin “Laugh 

Your Head Off” World Tour even though 

it has been the most difficult tour of 

my life. If nothing else, it is vital to 

me that anyone who is interested and 

watching sees that this President or 

any other should not have the power 

to try and decimate a single American 

citizen. I have actually enjoyed fighting 

back one joke at a time.

Best in Drag Show benefits a great 

organization called Alliance for Housing 

and Healing, formerly known as Aids 

for AIDS. The event started out very 

organically in the living room of Alexis 

Pittman’s apartment. We lost Alexis to 

HIV, and in his honor, the show gets 

bigger and better every year. It is an 

over the top drag show like you have 

never seen. The evening is also wildly 

inappropriate when it comes to the 

characters, costumes and humor. And 

who doesn’t love that? 

Do you feel pressure to be funny all 

the time during your daily life? Is 

there an expectation? 

I’m pretty “on,” as they say. I would 

say I am a little atypical compared to 

most comedians I have known, in that 

I am similar off stage to my incredibly 

delightful persona on stage. Many 

comedians are very shy and often pensive, 

bruiting types off stage. I like my 

quiet time but I really do try to make 

the people around me laugh every day. 

What have you learned in the last 

year, having gone through what you 

did? Would you do anything differently? 

I would do many things differently! I 

think it is hilarious when celebrities 

jump to the “I wouldn’t change a thing”
