HYBRID 24/7 CONCEPT
Reset and Nest represent a new mindset in
their approach to the bed and the bedroom.
Their key starting point is the latest interior
design, in which spaces are being opened
up both literally and figuratively. The temporal
dimensions and traditional typologies of
specific rooms have fundamentally changed.
The bedroom is becoming a living room, and
the bed a 24/7 living concept, sometimes for
the whole family.
For Magnitude, Alain Berteau has transformed
the bed into an architectural design concept. With
just 2 modules you can shape a micro-world in the
space. The 24/7 bed aims to create the feeling of
a cosy, sheltered and safe place. The design is
based on an alcove.
The base is a double sleeping comfort system.
The conversion module can best be described
as a backrest ending in an armrest for comfortable
sitting and relaxing. Its fluid course provides
shelter whilst maintaining an open view of
the space. These half-width ‘back’ modules can
be positioned around the base, either beside or
opposite each another, to create a more or less
closed-off world. This feels like an all-encompassing
embrace (Reset) or an intimate Nest. So
‘lying down’ on it feels like ‘retreating from the
world’ and ‘nesting’.
