It is true that professional fees, even though they come out of the debt<br />
repayment, do cost. Some consumers would like to save on as many<br />
fees as possible.<br />
They feel that if they are paying the Debt Counsellor R100 a month for 5<br />
years while paying off their debt, that adds up to R6000. They wonder:<br />
wouldn’t it be better to rather not make use of a Debt Counsellor and use<br />
that R6000 over 5 years to pay towards their debt?<br />
They may wonder if they could handle the payment side of things themselves,<br />
and avoid paying the PDA fees each month.<br />
While that may seem true at first, in reality, it is not that simple.
