The Liberal's guide to voting! 

Ok, I say it's time 

To take a breath. Yes, the system 

worked, but not as well and as fast as it 

should have. The Democratic leadership 

can take its victory lap. Every Democrat 

had their day, from the far right of the 

liberal center, to the free everything that 

lives in the outer spectrum of the left, We 

did OK. But lets remember a system that 

let in a person that most reasonable people 

would not and did not, vote for. A racist, 

a dictator calling for violence against the 

enemy of the people. For gay people its 

like holding rabbit dogs and threatening to 

unleash them on a whim and pretending 

to let them go! He is giving PTS to a nation 

of minorities for the single purpose of 

apartheid in America. We have a system 

that does not think science is a thing. We 

have a system that no longer has empathy 

for the struggle many people continue to 

have. Still he got enough votes of support 

to suspect we are a very racist hate filled 

nation. 

But this is where we got a 

divided nation that bitches 

how we are so divided. We are united by 

our mutual hate for each defines mental 

illness We are always pitting brother 

against brother with useless binary 

arguments. Good or bad but we know 

nothing can be just good or bad. We even 

say we are talking politics when we are 

clearly not talking politics. We are instead 

expressing our fears. These fears can be 

founded in facts, encoded from some 

evolutionary or childhood experience or 

just schooled into us. But almost all of 

these fears are baseless. and useless. But 

the fears remain strong enough to hold us 

down. Right now we fear a lot and our real 

fears are cataloged by those in control and 

played against us like we are the pawns in a 

Roll playing game. 

Today it may not be the fires that get us but 

the politics of protection and rescue that 

extort the most fear. 

We need to change ourselves to get the

HOLIDAY GIFT GIVING 

Earlier today, the FBI released Hate 

Crimes data for 2017, and for the third 

year in a row, these crimes have significantly 

increased. According to the 

Department of Justice, hate crimes shot 

up 17% last year --- with an especially 

sharp increase in anti-Semitic cases. 

There was one increase we are happy to 

see in this report: 16,149 law enforcement 

agencies did their due diligence and filed 

their hate crimes reports for 2017, the 

largest-ever number of participating agencies, 

up from 15,254 the previous year. 

We thank the Department of Justice for 

continuing to press local police to file their 

hate crime figures, and we hope that they’ll 

join us in pursuit of our goal of all 18,000 

local agencies to report on these horrific 

crimes, especially those in jurisdictions 

with over 100,000 citizens. 

From Corpus Christi to Tallahassee, and 

Winston-Salem to Savannah, 87% of U.S. 

cities reported zero hate crimes --- a statistical 

impossibility --- or didn’t file a report 

at all (a procedural failure). Together, we 

can do better. 

One of the many programs here at the 

Matthew Shepard Foundation is led by my 

colleague and former FBI Special Agent 

Cynthia Deitle, who also oversaw the civil 

rights division of the FBI for over a decade. 

Cynthia has organized vital workshops on 

hate crimes for police and prosecutors in 

cities across the country where law enforcement 

has not received adequate training. 

Whether it’s a jurisdiction that reports zero 

year after year and needs to be trained on 

how to identify a hate crime, or a city that 

reports numerous hate crimes year after 

year and wants to better prevent and prosecute 

them, we are prepared to train both 

law enforcement and citizens, alike. 

Hatred has been given a megaphone in 

America and we are working diligently to 

squelch it. We won’t stop striving toward 

our mission to erase hate and hope you are 

with us. We need to educate folks in order 

to encourage better reporting by both 

citizens and law enforcement. Without 

complete data, we can only make educated 

guesses about where we need to be to do 

this work. 

Today, we are looking to raise $5,000 which 

would pay for one more of Cynthia’s hatecrime 

trainings in a city that desperately 

needs our help.

Fabeyonce "I'll Take That Check" 

I remember when I first started to entertain. It 

was so amazing and still is. I will never forget 

how I started in the business. Coming into the 

drag scene can be scary at first, not owning 

but one pair of wedges and thrift shopping for 

dresses or just going through your mother's 

stuff and taking what you like. I think that's 

where most of us start, well at least that's where 

I started. I recall buying nylons and packing 

4-5 on and wondering why you can still see the 

green padding (lol). But when the crowd starts 

to know who you are, and they start to throw 

the coins at you, you have no choice but to do 

your best and bring the best for them. Now, 

all my costumes are made for me and wigs, of 

course got a bit pricier, stack the lashes, press 

on your nails and cinch the waist up, now this 

all costs $$$. I don't think many venues realize 

when you dress up and get ready for a show and 

expect you to work for free, that it costs a lot to 

look as we do. 

When a working girl gets in the room and starts 

to unload her luggage, we carry along costumes, 

jewelry, wigs heels, makeup etc., which is very 

costly and it's not a big issue. But when venues 

decide they'd like to use you for free, that's a big 

NO NO. Before I would perform for free in the 

begging, but at one point you must know your 

worth and realize that you've made this huge 

investment and now you must be paid back. 

I appreciate everyone I work with and love them 

so much, they bring me back and they also 

understand what it takes to give an amazing 

show, that's why the host brings on the girls who 

she knows are worth putting on a show. When 

I hosted a show in Palm Springs, the first show 

I’ve ever done, the management there were bad 

guys. I hosted an almost 2-hour show for 50 

dollars, not knowing what I should be paid. I 

stayed and kept doing what I did best, but my 

girls had got paid less and it hurt us, but we 

knew better and decided in order to continue 

to grow and be the best we can be, we had to 

get out and we did after the raise was 5 dollars 

after a year. Happy to say they closed the venue 

and I learned my lesson. But I didn't understand 

why it took me so long to catch on. After that, 

I always say I'll gladly "take the check" business 

is business and at the end of the day, they are 

making their money, so you make yours. 

One thing I'd like to say is if you’re a new girl 

hitting the scene, you should take tip spots and 

go where ever you can go, most likely you won't 

get paid in the beginning, but it'll all pay off 

as soon as you show them how hard you work 

and how amazing you’re going to look and 

what you can bring to a show. Don't complain 

to anyone about your problems and don't ever 

talk bad about host or anyone in a show. Just do 

your thing and shine bright. Don't let anyone 

steal your light. Be respectful and care for your 

sisters. Help when it's needed.

HYW 62 OPEN STUDIO ARTIST - 

DAVID BOTTOMS 

The visit to David Bottoms studio/home 

was following the previous weekend of 

sever weather in Joshua Tree, wind and 

flooding had raised havoc especially with 

the gravel roads in the area. David's 

studio is located on such a road. He 

informed us that he performs much of 

the maintenance on the roads with a 

tractor he has on his property. His studio 

is a new modern structure designed 

specifically for his work. Outside of the 

studio a few yards away in an open area is 

an approximate 10 foot by 10 foot raised 

platform with stairs leading to the top. He 

informed us that he uses it for viewing 

the stars and the landscape generally 

while laying down on the platform. As a 

result of Joshua Tree, and the area around 

it, being on a high plateau the viewing of 

stars and surrounding area is unique as if 

seeing the sky from inside a bowl. 

David's painting is unique in his 

interpretation of subjects in what he calls 

an abstract realism. When you view 

his work it may remind you of a video 

pixelation such as might happen when 

you watch TV and there is a glitch in the 

broadcast where the picture is broken into 

a series of square pixelations. The subject 

of his work is based on representation 

of people, animals, landscapes, and 

cityscapes. He explains that he breaks

the picture apart, reducing shapes to 

tiles or small squares of color. This 

process he uses to break the space he calls 

"constructive deconstruction of images". 

His work has a similarity to Piet 

Mondrian's iconic work of reducing visual 

reality to what Mondrian called macro 

level interpretation. However Mondrian 

went to a further reduction using only 

black lines forming squares and rectangles 

with red, yellow and blue color. David's 

work leaves more visual identification of 

the subject which causes the viewer to 

look carefully and to visually construct 

the subject from the pixels of color that 

intersperse into space around the central 

object. His art causes an active visual 

construction as you enjoy viewing the 

work.

of mine would be, a buddy comedy 

with my best friend Ser’Darius 

Blain. We started on this journey 

together in acting school and it 

would be an honor to work with him

Future Foundation located in New 

Jersey. “Hope + Future provides 

afterschool health and wellness 

programs in a safe environment 

with highly qualified instructors. By 

working with teachers and school 

administration, Hope + Future is 

able to track the attendance, grades 

and disciplinary action of the kids 

in the programs.”

I admire Lebron James because 

he has used his platform to help

and promote education as a way
