2 28 Wednesday [Edition datE] November 21 2018 Latest Christchurch news at www.star.kiwi SELWYN TIMES Selwyn Motorfest & Family Fun Day Jones Road Auto A true festival of motors Fun, food and vehicles will feature this Sunday at the second Jones Road Auto Selwyn Motor Fest and Family Fun Day. More trucks and trailers, cars, motorcycles, tractors, steam engines and other motors are expected this year, while emergency services will be out in muster with two recovery rescue trucks on display. Already over 200 show vehicles have registered for this year’s motor fest and four times more are expected on the day. Shed 24 and Lee Martin will be playing. Sunday 25th november, 10am-3pm Vehicles will range from early 1900 vintage to late model cars, including plenty of Japanese and American cars. The Jones Road Auto Selwyn Motor Fest and Family Fun Day is shaping up to be huge affair with interesting displays, market and food stalls, and entertainment for the children including free bouncy castles and face painting. With plenty of seating available, take a break from motor viewing to relax and enjoy the music of Shed 24. If you have a motor to display, you can register on-line or on the day. Attendees can also vote for their favourite car with formal judging held between 12noon and 2pm. Jones Road Auto Selwyn Motor Fest and Family Fun Day Sponsors Local business owners and motor enthusiasts, Nigel and Lisa Fleck are happy to once again be major sponsors for Selwyn’s second motor fest. The couple are delighted to have the opportunity to give back to the community, especially as money raised at this year’s event will be donated to the Westpac Air Rescue Service. Major supporter of sponsor’s alley and the motorcycle section this year, is local business owner John Haggitt. Pop in and see him on the day at the Anything Hydraulic stand. Selwyn people supporting their community The idea for Selwyn’s own motor festival was initiated by John Winchester. Steve Wright and local motoring enthusiasts, along many other individuals and businesses, exhibitors, the Lions Club and Lincoln Rotary have all contributed time, goods or financial support to this year’s event. The organisers would like to thank everyone who has played or will play a part in making this a superb day out. Getting to the event The Jones Road Auto Selwyn Motor Fest and Family Fun Day will be held this Sunday in Rolleston, between 10am and 3pm. PUBLIC ENTRY is via Springston Rolleston Road (opposite Rolleston College) with plenty of parking available; adults $5, children $2, families $10. EXHIBITOR ENTRY is via the Lincoln Rolleston Road; $20 per show vehicle registered on the day; $10 pre-day on-line registration.
