The extent to which the doctrines of the<br />

Waldenses or Albigenses had been accepted by the<br />

nobility may be seen by the following quotation<br />

from Philip Mornay:<br />

Earle of Bigorre, the Lady of the Vaur, the Earle of<br />

Carman, Raymund de Termes, Americ de<br />

Montreuil, William de Menerbe, and infinite<br />

others, both Lords and Gentlemen, men truly of<br />

that rank, that no man of sound judgment will<br />

think, they would have exposed to manifest danger<br />

their life fortunes and honor for the defense of<br />

vices and errors so execrable as they were charged<br />
