Jersey Education Association,

districts have significantly
increased educational opportunity
for their students.
Seaside Park and Seaside
Heights are moving to secede
because a 1978 change made by.

•funding arrangements has
increased their share of costs,
and Lacey Township, which
contributes 34 percent of the
student body, wants to establish
of-its-own,
Constituent districts gained
the chance to withdraw from a
regional only last year, NJEA
reports. The 1976 law requires
the withdrawing community to
establish grounds for the
dtaolution, to make a fair
property settlement, and to
provide for the educational
custody of the children.

more comprehensive schools

Treasurer, and the top localgovernment
official from the
Department of Community
Affairs compose a "board of
review" that (l) decides
whether to permit the election
and (2) divides assets and
liabilities among the withdrawing
and remaining
communities.

agree, a special election is.
scheduled no later than
December 1 in all the regional's.
