Break the law this week
and you could end up on television
• By Anan Zaki
IF YOU’RE pulled over by the
police this week, you may end up
on TV.
The popular show Police
Ten 7 will be filming across
the district from Thursday to
Sunday. The camera crew will be
accompanying
Rolleston
Constable Blair
Croucher.
“We will be out
in force with our
road policing,
targeting drink
Blair
Croucher
drivers, speeding
drivers and
inconsiderate
drivers,” Constable Croucher
said.
“They [drivers] might get a
bit more than what they expect
when they get pulled over. They
might end up having their face
on TV.”
He said the camera crew may
also be at the Farmlands Cup
pre-season rugby match between
the Crusaders and Highlanders
in Southbridge on Friday.
“Having Police Ten 7 does instil
the trust and confidence within
the community and the wider
areas of Selwyn. We’ll really
be responding to what jobs are
on the radio. They [producers]
pick and choose what they want
afterwards.”
Constable Croucher hopes
to showcase the good side of
Selwyn. The footage will air
about a year after filming, once
court proceedings for the cases
have been completed, he said.
This is not the first time Police
Ten 7 has filmed in the district.
“This is about the fourth or
fifth year they have come along
with me,” Constable Croucher
said. “In the past we’ve had
vehicle accidents. Out here
with Main South Rd on our
back doorstep, plus a lot of
rural roads, we do have nasty
accidents with serious injury
and, unfortunately, we do have
our fair share of fatalities.”
Fatal crashes will not be aired
on the show, he said.
Other Selwyn incidents
shown on Police Ten 7 have
included drunk and disorderly
behaviour, drink drivers, assaults
and thefts.
CAUGHT OUT:
The camera
crew from Police
Ten 7, which
is presented
by Detective
Sergeant Rob
Lemoto, will be
filming in Selwyn
from Thursday to
Sunday.
“Most people we pull over react
pretty good. They are generally
very remorseful and sorry and
admit fault,” Constable Croucher
said.
People can opt to have their
faces blurred for the show, he
said.
Constable Croucher featured
in Selwyn Times last week after
becoming popular on social
media for an act of kindness
in which he gifted presents to
children selling lemonade and
cookies in Rolleston.
