This year, on the occasion of St. Nicholas' Day, the Faculty of Economics & Business organized a play for the children of their employees at the theater Trešnja. Along with the party with candies, the forthcoming Christmas holidays were introduced to the children by the play Nutcracker. The Nutcracker and the Mouse King is an artistic fairy tale written by the great German romantic writer Ernst Theodor Amadeus Hoffmann in 1816. It served as an inspiration for one of the most famous and to the children most popular ballet, which do not descend from the stages in the World during the Christmas season, and served as well for numerous literary and film adaptations. genius inventor, their beloved godfather Drosselmeier. The play, in the version of Ms. Lada Kaštelan and directed by Ms. Paola Tišljarić, the play in a new and unusual way approach to the original Hoffmann plot, in which a very smart and curious girl Marie and her brother Fritz meet unexpected, fantastic characters and worlds with the help of a Holidays are the time of the gifts, and also the students of the Faculty of Economics & Business have shown their great heart in this pre-Christmas time. In order to enhance X-mas holidays to those in needs, the Student Associations of the Faculty of Economics & Business - Student Choir, HSA, Economic Clinic, Finance Club, eSTUDENT, Debate Club, Tourism Lab and Ekonomio in co-operation with the Red Cross from December 10 to 20, 2018 have conducted humanitarian action under the name STUDENT SANTA CLAUS. "The goal of this humanitarian action was to gather as many nutrition and hygiene supplies for the Red Cross Social Self-service Store. In this way we wanted to make our contribution and jointly make the holidays easier for those in need, and I was especially pleased to have all the students and staff of the Faculty of Economics involved in the action" said Marijan Buljan, President of the Student Choir.
In the organizational sense, the scientific-teaching part of the Faculty of Economics is divided into the department. Throughout history, the number of departments (sometimes referred to as the chair, literally translated from the Latin language) changed according to the development of economic science and teaching needs, and some of the departments were extinguished (e.g., the Department for Diplomatic History), other “merged” (e.g. the Department of Public Law and the Department of Economic Law), the third only changed its name (Department of National Economy) or split in two (e.g., the Department for Quantitative Methods), and with the development of science in general, emerged some completely new (e.g., Department of Informatics). Today, we have 17 departments, while, for example, just before WWII (while the School of Economics and Commerce was an independent higher education institution outside of the University of Zagreb system) were even 19! According to the Directive of the Ministerial Council (or more precisely the Minister of Education) of June 17, 1939 the Chapter 3 ... Art. 73: "There are departments at EKVŠ (School of Economics and Commerce) in Zagreb, which cover entire scientific branches. One department may include more related scientific subjects. At EKVŠ in Zagreb, there are these departments with their subjects: 1) Department for Political (National) Economics 2) Department for Economic Policy 3) Department of Social Science and Social Policy 4) Department for Economic History 5) Department for Economic Geography 6) Department for Cooperatives 7) Department of Insurance Science 8) Department of Financial Science 9) Department of Utilities and Communal Policy 10) Statistics Department 11) Department of Private Economy 12) Department of Techniques of Business Economics (Accounting, Commercial Technique) 13) Department of Techniques of International Trade 14) Department of Technology - Merchandising 15) Department of Technology - Material and Quality Control 16) Department for Private (National and International) Law 17) Chair for Public (National and International) Law 18) Department of Economic Law 19) Department for Diplomatic History In addition to the aforementioned departments, a new departments may be established by the Royal Decree at the proposal of the Minister of Education and on the basis of the reasoned proposal of the Senate (Article 19, paragraph 9)" of the School of Economics and Commerce in Zagreb.
