Analytics show that two out of every
three people access the district’s online
information from a mobile device. The
app allows members of the Francis Howell
community to access news, calendars,
menus, staff directories, push notifications
and more, all in a convenient, mobilefriendly
interface.
The mobile app is a result of the district’s
“Future Focused” strategic planning efforts.
The Engaged Family and Community Partnerships
Committee identified the mobile
app as a priority strategy as the district
explores “new ways to engage, communicate
and collaborate with families and the
community.”

Principal of the Year
The Missouri Association of Secondary
School Principals [MoASSP] has
announced that Saeger Middle School
Principal Dr. Kandy Worley has been
named the Jim L. King MoASSP Middle
School Principal of Year.
“I invest a lot of time in my students and
making students feel good about themselves
and their school,” Worley said. “My
parents know that I care about their children
and their learning.”
Worley has established a positive and
collaborative culture at Saeger and has
contributed to the continued improvement
of Saeger’s MAP scores over the past three
years.
“If I were to name or think of the one
thing that makes me happy about what I
do, it would be the kids. It is their laughter,
smiles, their innocence and sometimes
even their mischievous nature,” said
Worley. “We have some of the best students
and staff I have ever had the privilege to
work with, and I am lucky to be the principal
at Saeger Middle School.”
Worley has been a member of the Francis
Howell family for the past 24 years.
Zumwalt West High dance team
finishes top 10 in the nation
Over the weekend of Feb. 2, the Fort
Zumwalt West High varsity dance team
traveled to Walt Disney World Resort
in Orlando, to compete at the Universal
Dance Associations National Dance Team
Championships. The West High team finished
fourth in the nation in the large hiphop
category and sixth in the nation in the
jazz category.
Francis Howell School District
launches mobile app
Francis Howell School District has
launched a mobile app designed to enable
parents, staff, students and the larger community
to stay informed and up-to-date on
important issues, information and activities
happening in the district.
The Fort Zumwalt West High varsity dance team
Holocaust writing contest
seeks entries
The Holocaust Museum Learning
Center [HMLC] is seeking entries from
creative middle and high school students
for the 2019 Art and Writing Contest.
The 16th annual competition has been
held in dedication to the memory of the
1.5 million children who perished in the
Holocaust and in honor of the grandchildren
of sponsors Dr. Ira and Judith Gall.
For the writing contest, students may
write a poem, newspaper article, story,
play/dialogue or essay that expresses
inspiring lessons or the difficulties of the
Holocaust. Entries will be judged on content,
originality, quality of expression and
accuracy. For the art contest, students may
create a sculpture, drawing, photograph,
painting, poster, collage or five-minute
video or DVD.
The work will be judged on creativity,
excellence and content.
