Local teens take the stage in next<br />

round of Teen Talent Competition<br />

High school students from St. Charles<br />

County recently competed in the preliminary<br />

round of the Fox Performing Arts<br />

Charitable Foundation’s 9th Annual St.<br />

Louis Teen Talent Competition.<br />

The following students advanced to the<br />

semifinals, earning the chance to perform<br />

at The Fabulous Fox Theatre on Saturday,<br />

April 13 and win scholarships and prizes:<br />

Sophia Giltner, junior, Timberland High,<br />

dancer; Elise Martinez, sophomore, Francis<br />

Howell High, vocalist; Alli McDonald,<br />

senior, Timberland High, vocalist; Robyne<br />

Sieh, junior, Fort Zumwalt North High,<br />

pianist and composer; Kailynn Stiff, freshman,<br />

Fort Zumwalt South High, vocalist.<br />

to residents of the greater St. Louis metropolitan<br />

area, with a preference given to<br />

Seven scholarships, ranging from a<br />

$1,000 stipend up to $10,000, are available.<br />

Additionally, a fine arts loan fund is available<br />

to qualifying students.<br />

St. Johns Bank Excellence<br />

Scholarship<br />

Applications for the St. Johns Bank<br />

Excellence Scholarship Program are now<br />

available. The application deadline is<br />

April 1.<br />

The application is available on the<br />

Scholarship Central site stlouisgraduates.<br />

academicwxorks.com, St. Johns Bank’s<br />

website stjohnsbank.com, or in person at<br />

any branch. High school guidance counselors<br />

also have copies of applications.<br />

To be eligible, students must attend<br />

high school at Ritenour, McCluer, Pattonville,<br />

St. Charles, Fort Zumwalt or Francis<br />

Howell schools; they must continue their<br />

education full-time at a community college,<br />

four-year college or university in Missouri,<br />

Illinois or Kansas; and they must plan to<br />

major in banking, finance or business.<br />

Three winners each will be awarded a<br />

to youth heroes<br />

A new year means new scholarship<br />

opportunities for youths making a difference.<br />

The Gloria Barron Prize for Young<br />

Heroes is accepting applications online at<br />

barronprize.org now through April 15.<br />

The Barron Prize celebrates inspiring,<br />

public-spirited young people from across<br />

the U.S. and Canada. Established in <strong>20</strong>01<br />

by author T.A. Barron, the Barron Prize<br />

annually honors 25 outstanding young<br />

leaders ages 8 to 18, who have made a significant<br />

positive difference to people and<br />

the environment. Fifteen top winners each<br />

receive $10,000 to support their service<br />

work or higher education.<br />

Since its inception, the Barron Prize<br />

has honored nearly 450 young heroes and<br />

has won the support of Girl Scouts of the<br />

USA, Jane Goodall’s Roots & Shoots, and<br />

the National Youth Leadership Council,<br />

among other organizations.<br />
