2019 Autocross Series: Autocrossing is “Four” Porsches
by Mark Schnoerr, Region Autocross Chair
photos by Robert Kirby of Lightspeed Images
Autocrossing is for all Porsches, including the new
four-door and and old four-cylinder models. For 2019,
to better align our autocross car control classes to the
majority of the new 4-door Porsche owners, as well as
bring some of those neat old four-cylinder cars from
the ‘50s and ‘60s back from the museums and Show
& Shine events, we added a class that will put you all
together to have some fun.
No longer do the Cayennes, Macans, and Panameras
have to mix it up with Boxsters and Caymans. No
longer do any of the early four-cylinder Porsches have
to take on the 914 mid-engine brigade. You guys get
to come play in your own class. Modern, big, and
powerful vs early, small, and light cars are all in class
P0. This should be fun! Even SCCA has added a class
for Classic Sports Cars: HCS and R for the old real race
cars. No more excuses! Come out and show us what
you’ve got, what you have or what you had, or to learn
to drive again! See our 2019 autocross schedule on the
facing page.
Also, at the 2018 year end awards banquet, below
are some of the Porsche class winners showing off
their awards. In particular, one driver out of over 300
participants in the 10-event series last year, who ran in a
highly competitive class, had to come from behind more
than a few times, got lucky a few times, and won his
class in all ten events, earning 100 points for the season:
