Lucy's Magazine Vol. 42

We shot this editorial as a part
of the Mastered Accelerator
program. Mastered is an
online school and mentorship
program for all disciplines
in the fashion industry
from designers, stylists and
MUAH, to art directors and
photographers. During the
eleven-month program, we
had a few physical “meetups”
where we networked,
shot editorial in teams,
had portfolio reviews
with industry experts,
and attended workshops.
Getting the opportunity to
meet and work with other
professionals in the fashion
industry is always incredible
and Mastered students
are no exception. A truly
international crowd, some
of the connections made
at these events will last a
lifetime and help build great
shoot teams all over the
world. This editorial was
photographed during our fall
meet up in New York.
Although, shooting an
editorial while you are at a
Mastered event is optional,
most students find it to be
the best part of the whole
weekend. Long before the
event there is a big scramble
in our Mastered Facebook
group to create teams
and begin storyboarding
ideas. We had a complete
team until the last moment
when everything fell apart!
Our designer decided not
to come, our MUAH was
accidentally transferred
to another group and we
couldn’t find a stylist. At one
point, it was down to just
Julie Kostic our art director
and myself, but we were
determined not to give up.
I raided my own personal
closet for garments, recreating
the tropical vibes
from the original storyboard
and Julie used her personal
network to find Danielle
Gerkens our make-up artist.
