Unstuffed Cabbage<br />
Honey Pies Bakery | Serves 8<br />
INGREDIENTS:<br />
1 lb. lean ground beef<br />
2-3 garlic cloves minced<br />
½ cup onion, chopped<br />
2 cups carrots, chopped<br />
1 small green cabbage head chopped<br />
(about 4 cups)<br />
2 14.5-oz. cans diced tomatoes<br />
1 8-oz. can tomato sauce<br />
½ cup water, chicken stock<br />
or beef stock<br />
2 tsp. salt<br />
1 tsp. pepper<br />
DIRECTIONS:<br />
In a large, deep skillet or Dutch oven, brown<br />
ground beef, salt, pepper and garlic together.<br />
Cook until browned and crumbly, 5 to 7 minutes;<br />
drain and discard grease. Add cabbage, tomatoes,<br />
tomato sauce, liquid and bring to a boil.<br />
Cover and reduce heat, and simmer until<br />
cabbage is tender, about 30 minutes<br />
Adjust seasoning before serving.<br />
To make in advance, store in a large 9x13 Pyrex<br />
and reheat in the oven at 350° for 30-40 minutes.<br />
