THE ISLAND’S COASTLINE IS
AUTUMN
Guernsey’s coasts in the autumn can be as, or even
more attractive, than in summer. Stretch your legs
and clear your mind with the refreshing salty air while
taking in some fantastic views of the autumn scenery.
There is lots going on in Guernsey during these months
including the Autumn Walking Festival. But first, take a
trip to Petit Port which has often been described as the
most beautiful beach in Guernsey. Renoir fell in love
with this spot during his visit and rendered the view in
numerous paintings. Getting there does involve going
down almost 400 steps, but autumn is the perfect time
for it and you will be rewarded with truly majestic views.
You can also find a quiet sheltered spot at Port Soif,
perfect for weekend walks and afternoon get-togethers
and at low tide, families can also enjoy the vast
rock-pooling opportunities. To help keep you warm,
pop to the beach café and tea garden, Surfside, for a
warming cup of tea together with a freshly-made cake.
BLUEBELL WOODS
WINTER
The island’s coastline has a wild beauty in the colder
months but still offers incredible wildlife, views and
buckets of fresh air. It’s time to embrace the elements
and feel invigorated with a wind-swept walk along
L’Ancresse Bay and Pembroke. Covering two bays, this
is one of the longest stretches of beach in Guernsey
making it a perfect way to work off the comfort food
and shake off the winter hibernation. Treat yourself to a
comforting cup of hot chocolate from the Beach Café
with an extra portion of marshmallows. The winter can
also be a beautiful time to visit Herm. Each Christmas,
Herm opens up its popular gift shops for visitors to
do a spot of festive shopping. Carol singers help get
shoppers in the festive spirit and day-trippers can also
enjoy a windswept walk around the island and a winter
warmer in the pub. Keep an eye out for the £1 day
tickets available from Travel Trident Ticket Kiosk.
