The summer schedule is now in full swing<br />

and hopefully the seasonal weather will<br />

be as kind to us as it was last year so we<br />

can truly enjoy the benefits of Guernsey<br />

and the other destinations we fly to.<br />

If the weather is good on take-off or landing,<br />

then you will clearly see the uniqueness of the<br />

Bailiwick of Guernsey surrounded by azure<br />

waters. So, it should come as no surprise to<br />

note that nautical activities are popular in the<br />

island. From paddle boarding and kayaking<br />

to RIB voyages and jet skis, there really are<br />

many ways to appreciate the islands from<br />

a different perspective. You can read about<br />

some offshore adventures on page 19.<br />

May sees the launch of our new routes from<br />

Guernsey to both Jersey and Southampton.<br />

As an airline we are excited to be back in<br />

Jersey after five years and further strengthening<br />

our links with Southampton, where we have<br />

already been flying from Alderney. Both<br />

destinations offer convenient timings for day<br />

trips either way. So, why not make the best of<br />

the opportunities offered by summer weather<br />

to get out and explore somewhere close by<br />

but a little different?<br />

If you are over in Guernsey on holiday or<br />

even a resident, the summer season is the best<br />

time to visit Herm. With its long sandy beaches<br />

and no cars, a visit really feels like a break from<br />

the stresses of modern life. We are so lucky<br />

in the Bailiwick to have such an island on our<br />

doorstep. A quick lunchtime visit for lunch in<br />

the Mermaid or the Ship, a day trip to explore<br />

the beaches or perhaps stay longer camping<br />

or in the island’s only hotel. You can read more<br />

about Herm on page 24.<br />

Of course, our own island of Guernsey has<br />

a magnificent coastline. We are lucky to be<br />

blessed with a combination of rugged cliff<br />

paths, long sandy beaches and our unique<br />

and beautiful town seafront. On page 32 of<br />

the magazine we do a coastal tour of the<br />

island. If you are here visiting, I am sure you<br />

will find something interesting to enjoy.<br />

The summer is really all about getting out<br />

and discovering different places. Many of<br />

you on board may be heading to Gatwick.<br />

We often think about London being the big<br />

city with its draw being the buildings and<br />

history that surround the capital. However,<br />

there are many green and pleasant areas<br />

in London itself. We explore the green<br />

spaces of London on pages 48-50.<br />

Wherever your journey takes you to<br />

today, I hope you have a pleasant flight.<br />
