The summer schedule is now in full swing
and hopefully the seasonal weather will
be as kind to us as it was last year so we
can truly enjoy the benefits of Guernsey
and the other destinations we fly to.
If the weather is good on take-off or landing,
then you will clearly see the uniqueness of the
Bailiwick of Guernsey surrounded by azure
waters. So, it should come as no surprise to
note that nautical activities are popular in the
island. From paddle boarding and kayaking
to RIB voyages and jet skis, there really are
many ways to appreciate the islands from
a different perspective. You can read about
some offshore adventures on page 19.
May sees the launch of our new routes from
Guernsey to both Jersey and Southampton.
As an airline we are excited to be back in
Jersey after five years and further strengthening
our links with Southampton, where we have
already been flying from Alderney. Both
destinations offer convenient timings for day
trips either way. So, why not make the best of
the opportunities offered by summer weather
to get out and explore somewhere close by
but a little different?
If you are over in Guernsey on holiday or
even a resident, the summer season is the best
time to visit Herm. With its long sandy beaches
and no cars, a visit really feels like a break from
the stresses of modern life. We are so lucky
in the Bailiwick to have such an island on our
doorstep. A quick lunchtime visit for lunch in
the Mermaid or the Ship, a day trip to explore
the beaches or perhaps stay longer camping
or in the island’s only hotel. You can read more
about Herm on page 24.
Of course, our own island of Guernsey has
a magnificent coastline. We are lucky to be
blessed with a combination of rugged cliff
paths, long sandy beaches and our unique
and beautiful town seafront. On page 32 of
the magazine we do a coastal tour of the
island. If you are here visiting, I am sure you
will find something interesting to enjoy.
The summer is really all about getting out
and discovering different places. Many of
you on board may be heading to Gatwick.
We often think about London being the big
city with its draw being the buildings and
history that surround the capital. However,
there are many green and pleasant areas
in London itself. We explore the green
spaces of London on pages 48-50.
Wherever your journey takes you to
today, I hope you have a pleasant flight.
Thank you for choosing to fly with
Aurigny - we look forward to welcoming
you on board again in the near future.
