Sure has appointed Francesca<br />
Vadher as Head of Marketing<br />
across the Channel Islands<br />
and the Isle of Man.<br />
Francesca Vadher<br />
Francesca brings with her a wealth of experience in<br />
supporting international business development initiatives<br />
and implementing marketing strategies. She has worked<br />
in marketing communications within global blue-chip<br />
brands for over 20 years and joins Sure from Sony Digital<br />
Cinema where she was Head of Marketing for Europe<br />
and the Americas.<br />
Alistair Beak, Chief Marketing Officer at Sure, said:<br />
'Francesca has an impressive background and has<br />
proved that she is experienced at developing brands and<br />
managing international marketing campaigns.<br />
'She will be working across the islands Sure serves to<br />
understand how Sure can support the specific needs<br />

HOTEL WELCOMES JAPHIA ELLAYA<br />
The Governor’s Curry Room at the Old Government<br />
House Hotel has welcomed Japhia Ellaya to the<br />
culinary team, as the new Chef in Charge.<br />
Japhia’s talent and passion in the kitchen was<br />
spotted by Executive Chef Kevin Joseph, who has<br />
helped to prepare her for her next major career<br />
challenge. Japhia has joined the culinary team as<br />
the new Chef in Charge of the Indian section, in the<br />
Governor’s Curry Room Restaurant.<br />
Of the challenge that awaits her, Japhia said:<br />
'Knowing that Chef Kevin has the confidence in<br />
me to make a success, makes me very proud. He’s<br />
entrusting me to carry on with what he started at the<br />
Governor’s Curry Room and giving me the chance to<br />
do something really important for my career.'<br />
PROMOTION TO NEW COUNSEL<br />
ROLE AT BEDELL CRISTIN<br />
Bedell Cristin has promoted Ann Halliday to the newly<br />
created counsel role in its Guernsey office. She is the first<br />
person at the firm to be promoted to this position.<br />
Ann joined the firm in 2016, having worked for eight years<br />
as a banking lawyer with another leading offshore firm<br />
in Guernsey. Previously, she worked for a UK firm and inhouse<br />
with a leading financial institution. She became an<br />
associate of the Chartered Institute of Bankers in 1984 and<br />
spent a number of years in banking before qualifying as a<br />
solicitor of <strong>En</strong>gland & Wales in 1997.<br />
'We are thrilled to announce Ann’s promotion,' said<br />
Managing Partner of Bedell Cristin Guernsey, Kate<br />
Ovenden. 'Her appointment to counsel is recognition of<br />
her expertise, commitment and contribution to the team.<br />
Her technical knowledge is exceptional, her client care<br />
is second-to-none and she is dedicated to training and<br />
mentoring her colleagues.'<br />

RECRUITMENT CONSULTANT CELEBRATES 10-<br />
YEAR WORK ANNIVERSARY WITH A PROMOTION<br />
Senior Recruitment Consultant Marcel Magloire has been<br />
promoted to Manager at Firstcall Recruitment.<br />
The global recruitment specialists have also taken on<br />
Associate Consultant Jack Medhurst, as the company<br />
continues to secure growth.<br />
‘I’m thrilled with the promotion. I’m really looking forward<br />
to the changes ahead - building a team with a desire for<br />
recruitment and achieving success, in a truly peopleoriented<br />
environment,’ said Marcel.<br />
He joined the family business in 2009 and learnt from the<br />
ground up. Marcel said his role had changed considerably<br />
in the last decade. ‘I’m fortunate enough to now be at a<br />
point where I’m able to lean upon my experience,’ he said.<br />
‘My promotion has taken a phased approach, and over<br />
the past three or four years I’ve played a much more<br />
involved part, not only with client services but also<br />
operations, which has been challenging but worthwhile<br />
and rewarding.’<br />
SKIPTON INTERNATIONAL EXPANDS<br />
BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT TEAM<br />
Skipton International is continuing to grow with<br />
the appointment of Roger Hughes as Business<br />
Development Manager.<br />
With over 25 years in banking, Roger brings a wealth<br />
of industry experience to the leading Channel Islands<br />
bank. Since Roger joined the bank, he has led the<br />
development of the Guernsey and UK sales teams<br />
and the expansion of the sales broker networks.<br />

first and continually looking for solutions is a really<br />
refreshing approach to banking and one which I am<br />
thoroughly enjoying.' he said.<br />
Nigel Pascoe, Director of Business Development,<br />
said: 'We are receiving an increasing number of<br />

expanded our Business Development team in order<br />
to assert our presence in the market and to continue<br />
to generate new leads for the bank. Roger is well<br />
respected in offshore lending circles and has been a<br />
