Travel to an Ivy League university, to Canada, to
California, even to the United Kingdom and Rentech Boiler
Systems, Inc., is there.
The company located in Abilene, Texas, and built by
Abilenian Jack Rentz is so well-known for quality and value
that businesses do not think twice about ordering massive
boilers and shipping them across the country, or across the
pond, at tremendous expense.
The Rentech name is that good. Since 1999 a large petroleum
refiner has recognized that when it comes to the manufacturing
and servicing of boilers and their component
parts, it does not get any better than Rentech.
“It’s really value for the money,” the company’s technology
adviser for utility Infrastructure said. “The reliability and
longevity of their boilers far exceeds others.”
By 1996, when Rentz established Rentech Boiler Systems
in Abilene, the reputation the company enjoys today was
already in the making. He may not have known it at the
time, but Jack was building that reputation while working
on the family farm in McLennan County as a youngster,
working for a manufacturing company in Lubbock while
earning a degree in mechanical engineering at Texas Tech
University, and landing his first job out of college in Abilene.
Today, Rentech Boiler Systems has earned the right to
possess a unique trademark: “Rentech Boilers for people who
know and care.”
This pretty well sums up Rentech Boilers and its two associated
businesses, Rentech Boiler Services and Frontier
Welded Products, all located on eighty-acres of land on the
east side of Abilene.
“If they don’t know, we can educate them,” Jack said. “If
they don’t care, there is not much we can do about that.”
Jack knows and cares about the businesses he created.
From one employee in 1996, Rentech Boiler Systems and its
affiliated businesses have grown to an operation employing
over 300 people with an average annual revenue of just over
$100 million.
The state-of-the-art manufacturing plant includes 179,000
square feet of manufacturing space in several buildings.
