In 2001 Dr. Merkens was still maintaining
a full travel schedule as a consultant for
PathWay Lutheran Ministries, a church
growth consulting organization. He also serves
as a visiting speaker at Lutheran congregations
across the United States.
After resigning as senior pastor at Concordia,
Dr. Thompson joined the staff of the Lutheran
University of Brazil (ULBRA) as their North
American ambassador.
THE AUTHOR
Ron Lammert began his career in communications as a reporter for The San Antonio Light. He later formed a publishing company
and founded and operated a business newspaper, The San Antonio Executive, and a community newspaper, The Northwest Leader. Today
Lammert Publications, Inc. and its subsidiary, Historical Publishing Network, produce local interest history books in conjunction with
museums and historic preservation organizations.
Ron and his wife, Glenda, have been members of Concordia since 1971. Ron began attending Concordia in 1966, while a student
at Trinity University.
Ron has been a member of the Board of Elders since the early 1980’s. He teaches 8th Grade Sunday School. He is also active in
Lutheran Outdoors Ministry of Texas, having served as board president and currently as chairman of the Development Council.
Ron and Glenda have three daughters, Katy, Johanna and Christy, who are Concordia members.
