Why We Need More<br />
Women <strong>in</strong> the<br />
<strong>Energy</strong> Sector<br />
The renewable energy sector<br />
is still relatively new which<br />
expla<strong>in</strong>s why there is a<br />
current lack of diversity. This<br />
also mean that it could open<br />
its doors to more female<br />
eng<strong>in</strong>eers s<strong>in</strong>ce it still needs<br />
more time to fully develop.<br />
Currently, there is an<br />
<strong>in</strong>creas<strong>in</strong>g global demand for<br />
energy but it is struggl<strong>in</strong>g due<br />
to skills shortages.<br />
However, this dilemma can be<br />
resolved if more women could<br />
be part of the bus<strong>in</strong>ess.<br />
Women can close the skills<br />
gap which will help<br />
companies keep pace with<br />
the demands of the world. The<br />
skills of females are different<br />
from men as they have a slight<br />
edge when it comes to project<br />
management, negotiation, and<br />
diplomacy. They also have the<br />
knowledge that men possess<br />
from technical know-hows like<br />
<strong>in</strong>stall<strong>in</strong>g solar panels to<br />
subject theories like how a<br />
w<strong>in</strong>d turb<strong>in</strong>e works.<br />
But the greatest advantage<br />
of hir<strong>in</strong>g women is their<br />
sympathetic nature towards<br />
the state of the environment<br />
and climate change. This<br />
means that they can<br />
<strong>in</strong>corporate new ideas and<br />
<strong>in</strong>novations that can help<br />
the <strong>in</strong>dustry tackle climate<br />
change. S<strong>in</strong>ce females are<br />
more concerned of this<br />
aspect, their strong<br />
pro-climate beliefs and<br />
op<strong>in</strong>ions can be prom<strong>in</strong>ent<br />
voices to call for greater<br />
action.<br />
