BURY’S expulsion from the
English Football League is
a “tragedy”, says Sports
Minister Nigel Adams.
The financially stricken
League One club lost their
place in the EFL late on
Tuesday night after a proposed
takeover by C&N
Sporting Risk fell through
earlier in the day.
“This is a very dark day
for English football,” Adams
said in a statement.
“It is a tragedy for the fans
of Bury, the local community
and everyone connected with
the historic club.”
Meanwhile Bury’s neighbours
Bolton have been
given until September 10th
by Alex Trelinski
OFFICIALS from Paris St-
Germain and Barcelona
met in Paris on Tuesday
to discuss a possible
deal for Neymar to return
to the La Liga champions.
Both clubs said the talks
were “positive” but there is
“still lots of work to do”.
Neymar, 27, joined PSG
from Barcelona in 2017 for
a world record fee of 222m
euros, with Barca said to
be offering 170m euros to
be paid after a year’s loan.
The loan cost would be
at least 35m euros, though
they may offer players to
reduce the cash payment
as negotiations continue.
The Catalan press, following
leaks from the
to find a buyer or prove they
have the funds to complete
the season, or they will be
expelled as well.
The EFL suspended the
withdrawal notice while
Bolton, in administration
club, suggested Neymar
was pushing for the deal
to go through, and wants
since May, negotiated a proposed
takeover by Football
Ventures (Whites) Limited.
It appeared the sale collapsed
on Saturday, with administrators
saying the club
was close to liquidation.
NEYMAR MEETING
to return to the Nou Camp
rather than a move to Real
Madrid or Juventus.
ON a day, which promised
to be heavy rain, 36 brave
souls turned up for the Last
Waltz at Oliva Nova playing
a 1:2:3 right through the
card, and more, playing
off the Ladies Tees for the
whole round.
The rain never came, and
we played the complete round
in lovely sunshine.
We had two guests today,
namely Richard Pike and Mr
Ray Bates, and both were
playing with the Captain Bill
Pike and were very warmly
welcomed by the same.
We had two two’s today,
and they were by Michel Grin
and Paul Sankey.
Balls in the water were
won by Mr Danny Herron
who correctly guessed the correct
total of 72.
Nearest the Pin at Hole No
5 with their second shot was
Stella Fox with 1.71 meters
and at Hole 16, nearest the
hole was Roger Brown.
In the main event, the results
were as follows:
First place The team of
John Chessher, Malcolm
Cannon, Celia Cronin and
Roger Miller with 86 Points
Second place The team of
Paul Sankey, Danny Herron,
Jan Jones and Carla Chaszczewski
with 82 Points.
Malcolm Wise, Ray Bates,
Bill Pike and Richard Pike
with 81 Points.
Well played to the winners
with 86 Points, and
good to see John Chessher
in the points on his return
George and John win the
two person texas scramble
THE Formula 1 season restarts
at one of its most
iconic circuits this Sunday,
with the Belgian GP the
first of nine races that will
determine the outcome of
2019’s world title battles.
The race weekend at Spa-
Francorchamps kicks off the
run-in to the end of the season,
with nine races in 14
weeks in the build-up to the
season finale in Abu Dhabi on
December 1st.
The sport broke for summer
after the Hungarian GP at the
start of the month on a high
after a series of thrilling, unpredictable
races which saw
Red Bull and Mercedes win
from Malaysia.
In the team which finished
3rd, in the case of Ray Bates,
this was only the second time
he has been on a Golf Course
in his life, and he played very
well indeed, considering he
is retired from work. Well
played Ray.
Next Tuesday we are playing
a Stableford Competition,
and should any person like to
join us as a guest, please contact
the Shaun O’Gorman .
TODAY 23rd August Montgo
the pins won on the 3rd by
George Braddick and the 16th
Next week Oliva Nova are
carrying out course maintenance
so we have a fun game
Society will also be sponsoring
this event.
BACK ON TRACK
by Alex Trelinski
two apiece and six different
drivers take to the podium.
Lewis Hamilton resumes
his quest for a sixth drivers’
title in a commanding championship
position.
Hamilton, who won eight of
the first 12 races, is 62 points
ahead of Mercedes team-mate
Valtteri Bottas after enjoying
the best start to a season of
his career.
But the prospect of Red
Bull’s Max Verstappen emerging
as the world champion’s
nearest challenger grew in
the quartet of races before
the break.
