Contemporary Scandi<br />

Nothing says ‘understated cool’ quite like<br />

Scandinavian interior design, so it’s no<br />

surprise that this trend has such enduring<br />

appeal. Our climates might be poles apart,<br />

but the celebration of light that is integral to Scandi<br />

style works superbly in Australian homes, too. White<br />

walls create a blank canvas on which to subtly layer<br />

tones and textures, with timber and a restrained<br />

palette of pale hues playing starring roles. Add<br />

elements of hygge, the Danish concept of comfy<br />

conviviality, with sheepskin, furs and oversized knits,<br />

but curate your choices carefully. Getting Scandi<br />

right means strictly no clutter, and furniture with<br />

clean lines that encourages a feeling of airiness<br />
