Maribel Guardia is the godmother
of Hispanic Festival,
the Costa Rican brings all her
beauty, energy and talent to
this commemorative day and

Maribel del Rocío Fernández García, known
as Maribel Guardia, is a Costa Rican actress,
singer and television host, naturalized
Mexican. He was born on May 29, 1959 in
San José, Costa Rica.
He began his career as a model participating
in the Miss Costa Rica contest at the beginning
of the year 1978, at the age of 19, where
He was able to obtain the title to represent
his country that same year in the international
Miss Universe contest based in Acapulco,
Mexico, where he won the title of Miss Photogenic.
For its part, the Mexican television company
Televisa offered, following the recognition
obtained for its participation in Miss
Universo, a scholarship to study acting, singing
and dancing at the Sergio Bustamante
Academy, now the Center for Artistic Education.
At the end of his artistic studies he failed to
dabble in television, but in the theater, acting
in 1980 in his fi rst work Los Caballeros De La
Mesa Redonda.
After participating in several plays and several
film casting, he ventures into Mexican
cinema of the time making his debut
as an actress in the movie Como México
there are not two in 1981.
Her cinematographic career was in frank ascent
since then and she managed to obtain
“The Goddess of Silver” as the best leading
actress in Mexico in the 1985 Horror And
Black Lace fi lm directed by Luis Arcoriza.
This success once again attracted the attention
of the Televisa company, which hired her
as an exclusive artist to star in several soap
operas, the fi rst of them Seduction in 1986,
which many others followed, including some
children.
In 1998 he ventured into music with the
theme “You taught copper” with the northern
group Los Rieleros Del Norte, this theme is
included in the album La Moraleja on whose
cover Maribel appeared along with the members
of the Chihuahuan group.
Since then, he has recorded fi ve albums in
various genres and singing in palenques
and various theaters in Mexico. Of his record
production released at the end of 2008, the
song “From chest to chest”, composed by
the composer and singer-songwriter, Hernaldo
Zúñiga, stands out.
He has performed Mexican regional music
in various national and international forums,
ranging from the Palacio de los Deportes and
Plaza México in the Federal District, through
all the palenques of the Republic in Mexico,
to the Universal Amphitheater of Los Angeles
California and the American Airlines of Chicago
among others, besides presenting itself
in almost all Latin America.
For 2009 he plays the character of “Elena Tejero”
in the work Adventure in Mexico, along
with Carmen Salinas. The fl uidity and sympathy
of Maribel, as well as his interaction
with the public in his presentations as a live
singer, caught the attention of diverse producers
to offer him work as a cheerleader,
being invited to “co-lead” programs such as:
the Cristina Show, El Gordo y la Flaca, Telethon
in Mexico and Costa Rica, The Broadway
Fiesta Festival in Los Angeles, The
Parade of Roses in California for Univisión,
among others.
In 2010 she worked in the soap opera Niña
de mi corazon under the production of Pedro
Damián together with Arturo Peniche, Erick
Elias and Paulina Goto. In 2011 he had a
special participation in the soap opera Una
familia Con Suerte, under the production of
Juan Osorio with Arath de la Torre, Sergio
Sendel and Mayrin Villanueva.
In 2012, she participated in the soap opera
Corona de l tears. Two years later, producer
Pedro Damián calls her to participate in the
soap opera “Italian girl comes to marry”,
playing Juliet.
