The group took shelter in
the Cova del Llop Mari near
serious problems.
The authorities were then
contacted and at about 6pm
members of the group were
rescued first, including the
injured woman, two people
with suspected broken ribs
and some suffering from early
stages of hypothermia as
However, this may not be
the end of the matter for the
unnamed company which
supervised the group, who
had all travelled down from
Valencia.
There was a clear orange
alert issued for strong winds
and the authorities have confirmed
that they have opened
an investigation into the
matter and that the paddle
surf company will be liable
for costs if found negligent.
As things stand it would
appear the organisers either
did not listen to the forecast
or did and chose to risk the
trip anyway, despite there
being at least one minor in
the group.
JAVEA Guardia Civil have
arrested two minors in
connection with an armed
robbery in Gata de Gorgos,
an offence that also
involved an assault.
The crime took place last
month at a property in the
Marina Alta town when the
pair entered the house and
threatened the occupier with
a pistol. A fight ensued and
eventually the aggressors
by Simon Russell
years of the Colla Portitxol
band.
The first is on 16 November
featuring the Javea
CAM Youth Band and Orchestra
while on the 23rd it
is the turn of the adult CAM.
Both of these are at San
Bartolome Church from
9.30pm and are free.
by Simon Russell
left with €200, fleeing over
the rooftops and then in a
vehicle.
An investigation started
which this week led to the
arrest of the two suspects,
both aged 17.
The police also managed to
track down the pistol, which
turned out to be a good
quality replica of a Colt 25.
The venue and time are
the same for the anniversary
concert of Colla Portixol on
30 November, which has a
special collaboration with
Pep Gimeno “Botifarra”.
Those wanting to attend
any of the above should just
be able to turn up on the
evening, but it may be worth
checking with the town
hall beforehand.
The teenagers have been
charged with robbery with
violence and intimidation and
detained in a juvenile centre.
