2019 comes to an end with a good piece of news from the
Tim Stead Trust.
Tim Stead’s estate has received an archiving award from the
Foundation Art360 and thus Tim Stead is now officially one
of the Leading Scottish artists with a secured place in art
history.
Sir John Leighton, Director General, National Galleries
Scotland gave this statement: “Many artists and their estates
face formidable challenges in preserving their valuable
archives. Art360 is a truly transformational initiative that will
help a diverse range of artists to organise and care for their
archives while also ensuring that these are accessible to be
enjoyed by future generations.”
The programme has received the generous support of
Creative Scotland, the Henry Moore Foundation, the P F
Charitable Trust and National Galleries Scotland.
This is a very important development for the Tim Stead Trust.
The impact on the work of the Trust is indirect: it does not
help financially with the physical securing of the house and
collection and archives. What it does: it raises the profile
of an unrepresented artist on a wider national scale, and
hopefully will encourage hesitant sponsors and donors to
feel confident to support a good cause.
We are pleased to wish you a Merry Christmas and a Happy
New Year!
