Lauderdale Choir

Since returning to Choir after holidays we have been on

"Eggheads" on TV: our team did so well and so nearly

beat the opposing team. Well done to Emma Emmerson,

John McPherson, Tommy Syme, Sandy Sutherland &

Julia Loudon!

We are very busy preparing for our next concert on

Saturday 7th December at Earston HS. We are perfoming

music that has been composed and/or arranged by

women; the focus being a five-movement piece entitled

'Snow Angel' by Canadian composer Sarah Quartel.

This will feature the choir plus cello and piano (it would

be good to mention the two Claires) Other composers

we are including are Scotland's own Karine Polwart,

Ali Burns and Annie Lennox. We will also perform a

beautiful arrangement of 'Flowers of the Forest' by one

of our own sopranos, Karin Griffin. Tickets are available

from choir members and Woodside Garden Centre,

Ancrum.

We love welcoming new members to our choir!

Membership of the choir is open to anyone. There

are no auditions and there is no requirement to read

music. Enthusiasm and a desire to sing are the only

requirements.

If you would like to give singing a try, come along on

any Thursday at 7.30pm to Lauder Public Hall with

no obligation. You don't have to become a member

immediately - feel free to come to a couple of rehearsals

first to see if it's for you. There are section reps for

the individual sections to help new members settle in

and guests receive a music folder for use during the

rehearsal. If you would prefer to contact someone first,

you can e-mail join@lauderdalechoir.org.uk or use the

contact form and someone will be in touch.

Lauderdale Art Group

We continue to meet in the Church Centre every

Thursday 9.30-11.30 and are always delighted to

welcome new members. No amazing artistic ability

required... just come along and enjoy a couple of

hours being creative!

We are currently working on group projects as well

as our individual pieces. These will be on show at

our next exhibition.

Seasons greetings to everyone from us all!

Q: What do you call a dog with a bunch of

flowers in its mouth?

A: A collie-flower!

Lauder Fire Station

With Christmas fast approaching the importance of

home safety is more relevant than ever trees and

lights going up, decorations, ornamental candles,

these all lead to an added risk in the household!

For home safety advice speak to any of the local

firefighters or call the station on a Wednesday night

between 6.30pm and 9.00pm on 01578 718906.

We are still on the hunt for new faces to join the crew,

do you fit the bill? Do you want a new challenge?

Could you provide the time to serve and protect your

local community? If so, we would like to hear from

you!

Merry Christmas and a Prosperous New Year from all

at Lauder fire station.
