from

Sheena Jones

The Shed is continuing to attract members with another

couple showing interest during our successful open session

during the recent Christmas Shopping Night. At this event

we sold some of the things we have made and together with

a number of donations we raised £136 on the night. Many

thanks to everyone!

If you missed us, we will also have a stall at the Christmas

Fayre at Lauder Primary School on Saturday, 1 November.

Come along!

We have managed to source a new storage shed and

continue to add to our stock of tools.

To find out more drop in on Tuesday or Thursday afternoons

from 12.30 - 5 pm. Membership costs just £3 per month or

£4 for key access outwith normal hours. Or phone John for

more information on 07703 305257.

1st Lauder Guides have had a very busy term so far;

we had a ball at the Tartan Gig in Glasgow in August,

where the girls saw some of their favourite music icons

perform - a very memorable night for them as always!

In the Guides we have been working very hard on our

skill builders to earn badges. One or our patrols did

a bake sale for the charity “Dreams Come True” and

raised £44.46. Well done girls; you did amazing!

We had great fun at Bowhill, where the guides had

a great day outside, despite the rain. We were den

building and playing in the adventure playground,

where we made lots of new friends, before heading

inside for some creative fun.

Back at Lauder, we have all enjoyed making sock

monkeys, had Waste Aware Lauderdale in and made

posters for them to advertise, before making our

reusable beeswax wraps, which reduce waste and help

the environment.

We recently had our Halloween party where the girls

dressed up and had great fun apple bobbing, before

putting their faces in flour to dig out sweets - this

produced some “ghostly” faces - and put their hands in

goo to get more. We then had some yummy snacks and

pizza. Later, we went outside and celebrated bonfire

night with sparklers and made patterns with them.

fundraising bag pack at ASDA on 23rd Nov to raise

money for the bus costs for our trip to Blair Drummond

Safari Park, and to round off a busy term we are looking

forward to our Christmas party!

Merry Christmas from all the Leaders, Young Leaders

and Guides at 1st Lauder Guides.
