“Making Lauder Blooming Lovely!”

Festive Foliage - Saturday 7 th December 10-12 in Lauder Public Hall

Come along to our annual Festive Foliage workshop where we’ll be making the

150 bunches to decorate our town from one end to the other. There will be

mince pies for the helpers! If anyone is cutting back their laurel or similar

evergreen foliage we can make use of 2 foot lengths. Thank you.

Friends of Lauder in Bloom. Perhaps you’re looking for a gift for someone then

why not take out a year’s membership of our ‘Friends of Lauder in Bloom’. For

less than 3p a day members receive a quarterly newsletter and are automatically

entered into a prize draw every 3 months. Joining forms are available in Lauder

Library, The Flat Cat and The Purple Plum.

Co-op Community Fund. If you shop at the Co-op and like what we do then why not choose Lauder in

Bloom as your local cause for this next round of the Co-op Local Community Fund.

https://account.coop.co.uk/sign-in These funds will help provide spring and summer floral displays as well

as helping us to continue our other projects including our Juniors & Seniors club, our Garden Helpers

Service to those in need in our community along with our army of Lauder Litter Lifters. Help keep our town

looking lovely for locals and visitors alike. Thank you!

Working with ‘In Bloom’ groups across the Borders. Following the reduction in Council services to 'In

Bloom’ groups in the region we saw this as a positive opportunity for groups to come together to share

information and best practice as well as providing a support network for each other. We were delighted by

the response and we’re hopeful that this new Network will enable groups to find positive solutions to help

fill the gaps which SBC are no longer able to provide including sourcing bedding plants, grass maintenance

and street weeding as well as providing an invaluable support network for groups. Thanks to SBC for

helping us to circulate the invites and to the Lauderdale Hotel for accommodating us and for providing the

best home-made shortbread biscuits.

National Beautiful Scotland Conference. We recently attended the national Beautiful Scotland conference

in Stirling where we were asked to present on our award-winning Juniors & Seniors Club as well as our

Pollinators Patches @ The Park. Our presentations and stall were very well received and we hope we’ve

inspired other groups across Scotland to give it a go.

Real Christmas Tree Recycling. Save yourself a trip to the dump and don’t forget to bring us your real

Christmas tree for recycling on Saturday 4 th January between 13:00 and 15:00 at the Primary School.

Thanks to Firebrick Bakery, The Purple Plum and Lauder Co-op for accommodating our collection tins and

to Lauder Library for hosting our on-going free Seed Swap & suggestion box. Contact us at

lauderinbloom@gmail.com, find us on Facebook or chat to any of the Team who are often out and about

in our blue ‘Lauder in Bloom’ polo shirts. We look forward to hearing from you!
