BARNES<br />
Linda D. Barnes, 61, of London died on Nov. 27, <strong>2019</strong>, in her residence.<br />
She was born on June 10, 1958, in Columbus, the daughter<br />
of Donald E. and Mary (Wise) Wooldridge. Linda was the owner of<br />
many businesses, including Somerford Salon, Amish Meat & Cheese,<br />
and Use It Again. She also worked for the state at the London Correctional<br />
Institution for several years. She drove school buses for London<br />
and West Jefferson for 12 years. She is survived by: her husband<br />
of 37 years, Truett “Joe” Barnes; children, Sarah (Keith) Conn, Kelly<br />
Barnes and Truett (Christie) Barnes; sister, Brenda (Donald) Lowe;<br />
grandchildren, Truett G. Barnes, Reece T. Conn, Pierce J. Conn and<br />
Makaylin Barnes; nieces and nephews, Robert Sprouse, Brian<br />
Wooldridge, Jamie Connor, Tamara (Nathan) Waugh and Melissa<br />
Lowe; and many great-nieces and great-nephews. Linda was preceded<br />
in death by: her mother, Mary E. Blake; sister, Donna J.<br />
(George) Sprouse; and nephew, Timothy A. Wooldridge. A celebration<br />
of life service was held Dec. 1 at Rader-Lynch & Dodds Funeral Home<br />
& Cremation Service, London,with the Rev. Jerry Poff officiating. Interment<br />
followed at Somerford Township Cemetery.<br />
ELLIFRITT<br />
Brenda Ann Ellifritt passed away on Nov.<br />
27, <strong>2019</strong>, at her home from pancreatic cancer<br />
with her loving husband, Tim, at her side. She<br />
is preceeded in death by her parents, Keith<br />
and Marguerite Root, and her mother-in-law,<br />
Carol Ellifritt. Besides her husband, Tim, she<br />
is survived by: her father-in-law, Gerald Ellifritt;<br />
brothers, Richard (Valerie) Root and<br />
Jack Root; sister, Sue (Ed) Mikle; brother-inlaw,<br />
Thomas (Lori) Ellifritt; daughters, Beth (Dennis) Courtney,<br />
Cindy Seaford and Wendy (Rubin) Terry; 10 grandchildren and<br />
seven great-grandchildren. Brenda will be deeply missed by many<br />
nieces, nephews and friends. Brenda attended Canal Winchester<br />
High School and the Columbus Culinary Institute, where she was<br />
class salutatorian. Brenda was employed at Southwestern City<br />
Schools. She was a Civil War and WWII reenactor and a member<br />
of the NRA and the Ohio Gun Collectors Association. She also was<br />
a devoted Buckeyes fan. Brenda was a chef and baker without<br />
equal. Thank you to all the folks at Ohio Health for your kindness<br />
and care. Per her wishes, there was no visitation or funeral service.<br />
Interment will be at Violet Township Cemetery, Pickerington, Ohio.<br />
SCHALL<br />
Jennifer Janice Schall, 12, of London died on Nov. 27, <strong>2019</strong>, in<br />
<strong>Madison</strong> Health. She was born on Aug. 6, 2007, in Laurelville, Ohio.<br />
Jennifer was a sixth-grade student at London Middle School, who<br />
loved science, the outdoors and helping her guardians care for and<br />
nurture many foster animals in her home. You could regularly find<br />
her playing in the creek with her friends, getting her shoes and<br />
hands all muddy catching frogs, tadpoles, crawdads, whatever she<br />
could get her hands on. Her family includes: guardians, Julie Miller<br />
and Jim Cooper; parents, Robert Schall and Celena Hogan; sister,<br />
Breanna Schall; great-grandmother, Janice Schall; and many other<br />
relatives and friends. Friends called at Eberle-Fisher Funeral Home<br />
and Crematory, London, on Dec. 1. Memorials in Jennifer’s name<br />

SKIDMORE<br />
Jessica A. Skidmore, 35, of London died on Nov. 28, <strong>2019</strong>, in her<br />
residence. Born on Sept. 6, 1984, in Columbus, she was a daughter<br />
of Ray and Vicki (Coomer) Skidmore. Survivors include: her mother<br />
and father; son, John Joe McGrath III; daughters, Johzlyn McGrath<br />
and Jenna McGrath; sisters, Jennifer Thompson (Jeff Pack) and<br />
Julia Skidmore; nephews, Nicholas Williams, Thomas Thompson,<br />
Conner Thompson, Bruce Pack, Kristian Oty, Brendon Guyer and<br />
Devin Guyer; maternal grandmother, Betty Mastin; many aunts,<br />
uncles and cousins. She was preceded in death by her paternal<br />
grandparents, Ken and Shirley Skidmore, and maternal grandfather,<br />
John Coomer. Funeral services were held on Dec. 4, <strong>2019</strong>, in<br />
Eberle-Fisher Funeral Home and Crematory, London. Interment<br />
followed in Oak Hill Cemetery, London.<br />
HOLLAR<br />
James Allen Hollar, 78, of Mount Sterling went home to be with<br />
the Lord on Nov. 30, <strong>2019</strong>, at the Signature Health Care of Fayette<br />
County. He was born on Dec. 6, 1940, in Mount Sterling, a son of<br />
Charles William and Helen Erma (Morgan) Hollar. He was a longtime<br />
member of Antioch Church and worked and retired from General<br />
Motors in 1992. He loved to sing and enjoyed horses and<br />
spending time with his family. James was preceded in death by: his<br />
parents, Charles and Helen Hollar; first wife, Connie Sandra Chambers<br />
(Jimmy and Samantha’s mother); second wife, Clara Ann<br />
Hampton; siblings, Joseph, Keith, Charles “Mots,” John, Harvey,<br />
Frances, Arietta, Martha and Charlotte. He is survived by: his loving<br />
wife, Betty; children, Jimmy (Brenda) Hollar, Samantha (Rick)<br />
Jones, Dale Stewart, Marlene Stewart, Larry Stewart, Rina Ferguson,<br />
Jeffrey Stewart, Sandy Rosier, Vicky Coffman, Tony Fox and<br />
Jimmy (Jeanette) Fox; sisters, Cora “Boots” Matthews, Mary (Jack)<br />
Brill; grandchildren, Gabriel, Gavin Jones, Jacob Hollar, and several<br />
other grandchildren and great-grandchildren, Hayden; numerous<br />
nieces, nephews and a host of friends. Funeral<br />
services were held on Dec. 5 at Porter-<br />
Tidd Funeral Home, Mount Sterling, with<br />
Pastor James Blankenship officiating. Interment<br />
followed at Pleasant Cemetery, Mount<br />
Sterling.<br />
PENWELL<br />
Gloria Penwell, 82, a life-long resident of<br />
London died on Dec. 1, <strong>2019</strong>, in her home.<br />
Born in London on Feb. 26, 1937, the<br />
daughter of Dean W. and Avanelle (Daily)<br />
Brill. Gloria worked in the insurance industry<br />
for 66 years at Chaney & Thomas Insurance<br />
Agency, which she purchased in 1978<br />
and has continued as a three-generation<br />
family operated business. Gloria enjoyed<br />
serving her community in various ways. She<br />
was a long-time member of the London<br />
Board of Public Utilities, served on the<br />
Board of Oak Hill Cemetery and was a past<br />
member of the Chamber of Commerce. She<br />
enjoyed her family, loved antique shopping<br />
and enjoyed their cabin in Hocking Hills.<br />
Gloria is survived by: her husband of 45<br />
years, Carl M. Penwell; daughter, Deeann<br />
(Mike) Blake; and grandson, Ty (Caitlin)<br />
Blake, all of London. A celebration of life<br />
was held on Dec. 5 at Red Brick Tavern. Inurnment<br />
will be held at the discretion of the<br />
family. Contributions may be made to the<br />
Salvation Army, Gloria’s favorite charity.<br />
