There can be few lovelier places in the county to ramble that the<br />

Kennet Valley. The valley sides slope down to the river Kennet<br />

making it the ideal place to enjoy some great views, some really<br />

good wildlife and an ancient environment including a Saxon<br />

settlement at Ramsbury itself – the Saxons knew a good site<br />

when they saw one and if The Bell at Ramsbury had been<br />

around at the time, I am sure it would have been full of happy<br />

Saxons enjoying a fabulous Sunday lunch!<br />

If donning your boots and heading out into the country isn’t<br />

your bag, then how about staying local with some retail therapy<br />

and a delicious lunch at Hilliers. Ideally situated in the middle<br />

of the town and a great place to meet chums Hilliers serves a<br />

menu of signature small plates from dawn ‘til dusk, Hilliers offers<br />

affordable luxury for everyone.<br />

What could be better than a stroll through the delightful National<br />

Trust village of Lacock, in the footsteps of all of those period<br />

dramas – and Harry Potter, and then a wonderful lunch at The<br />

Sign of the Angel. You could visit the Abbey, take a turn around<br />

the Fox Talbot Museum or stroll in the surrounding countryside<br />

and then be assured of great food and a cosy spot at this<br />

charming 15th century coaching in.<br />

There can be few more iconic sites to take a Sunday walk around<br />

than the Caen Hill Flight in Devizes. With a very convenient<br />

car park you can stroll from top to bottom of the flight of locks,<br />

looking out for kingfishers and swans on your way and the views<br />

from the top are stunning – and then pop down the road to the<br />

George and Dragon for a fabulous lunch.<br />

Hodson is an unspoilt hamlet in a small valley in the parish of<br />

Chiseldon. Ideal for a short stroll or a longer walk the hamlet<br />

is close to Chiseldon village and is also close to the Ridgeway<br />

which is a simply wonderful way to explore history and enjoy the<br />

best of what Wiltshire has to offer. Having worked your boots<br />

you can then give them a rest while you enjoy a great lunch at<br />

The Calley Arms.<br />

A friendly family run pub, the Woodbridge Inn is set in the heart<br />

of the Vale of Pewsey, Wiltshire, serving good food, real cask ales<br />
