BUSINESS TO BUSINESS
LET’S CRACK ON WITH 2020!
With the start of the New Year we are all thinking about our
businesses going forward and how we can ensure they thrive and
prosper. One of the most important things is how and where we get
the things we need to create the right environment to flourish - and
we think that using local suppliers is key to that.
Not only are you supporting other business who work in your area,
they also know the area, the carbon footprint for any supplies is
much smaller - and there is a real person at the end of the phone
who knows where you are doing business and therefore the
conditions you are both working in.
If you want to create a good local ‘footprint’ then brand awareness
is key - we trust what we see and what we feel familiar with and so,
for example, having a logo that is well know and well thought of is a
great start. Using a local designer, a local printer, a local company to
brand workwear, vehicles etc. a local company to build your website
- and, of course, a great local magazine to advertise in!
Training needs, recruitment needs, administrative needs, all of these
things can be sourced locally and there are lots of groups who meet
on a regular basis to discuss and share local business news – the
Chambers of Commerce and other business groups are a wonderful
source of knowledge and information and this sort of networking
really is time well spent - and if you are lucky you get a great
breakfast too!
Innovation at a local level is another key factor – what works in
one area may be totally unsuited to another and Councils too pay
a key part in how we do business. The thorny subject of Business
Rates is sure to run and run and the problem of diminishing high
street footfalls is another obstacle - but with great local initiative and
innovation and support from our local organisations, local businesses
will thrive and flourish - so here’s to a booming business 2020!
So think local, buy local and celebrate local
for 2020
uncommonly well.”
