ProTaper: one of the best and most<br />
reliable (and forward-thinking) aftermarket<br />
manufacturers in the motorcycle industry.<br />
For all of their expanding product line-ups<br />
the brand is still best known for their advanced<br />
handlebar concepts. The Fuzion is<br />
a CAD designed T6 aluminium alloy model<br />
with a revolutionary flex locking design that<br />
allows riders to choose between a stiffer,<br />
more controlled handlebar feel and a softer,<br />
more shock-absorbing one. The setting<br />
change can be done in seconds and comes<br />
with six different bends. The Evo is more<br />
conventional but no less ground-breaking<br />
and helped ProTaper establish their name<br />
as the premier crossbar-less manufacturer<br />
at the beginning of the 1990s. The Evo is<br />
allegedly 25% lighter and 45% stronger<br />
than market rivals.<br />
‘Without sacrificing strength, this design<br />
yields increased flex and impact absorption<br />
over conventional handlebars, offering<br />
the rider improved comfort and reduced<br />
fatigue,’ ProTaper say. Eleven bends, black<br />
and magnesium colours and with dirt track<br />
and Adventure models means it is one of<br />
the flagship products for the Brand.<br />
Lastly here the SE (Seven Eighths) comes<br />
in a myriad of bend choice and five different<br />
colours. The crossbar construction is<br />
made from ‘2000 series aluminium alloy<br />
and five millimetre-thick wall design,<br />
combined with its cold-forged crossbar<br />
and CNC machined clamps, make it perfect<br />
for riders who prefer solid, predictable<br />
feedback.’ The range of choice and stamp<br />
of reliability mean that a ProTaper bar for<br />
Christmas could really alter the riding<br />
experience.
