Fire and Emergency New Zealand declares
a restricted fire season, effective from
27 January 2020 in the following area(s):
• Otorohanga District
• South Waikato District
• Waitomo District
• Waipa District
A permit is required to light a fire in open
air in these areas.

MILITARY EXERCISE
Soldiers Marching from
West Melton Range
31 January 2020
The general public is to be advised that the
New Zealand Army will be conducting a Route
March on the 31 January 2020.
The exercise will involve up to 100 soldiers
from Depot Company, 2nd/1st Battalion,
Royal New Zealand Infantry Regiment from
Burnham Military Camp.
This will involve soldiers carrying weapons and
walking on the verge of the road. The roads
used will be Aylesbury, Sandy Knolls Mackays
and Old West Coast Road. Pilot vehicles will be
to the front and rear of marching troops.

Selwyn District Plan

Selwyn District Council has issued a requirement for a new designation.
The Council is seeking to designate a 6.5 ha area of land for an extension to the existing
Kirwee Recreation Reserve.
The site to be designated is located off Tramway Road, Kirwee, and is adjacent to the existing
Kirwee Recreation Reserve. The legal description of the land affected by the designation is
Section 1 SO5506720. The land is owned by Selwyn District Council.
The Notice of Requirement may be inspected during opening hours at any of the Council’s
service centres or libraries.
Submissions
Any person or organisation may make a submission to the Council supporting or opposing the
designation. Submissions must be in writing and in accordance with Form 21 of the Resource
Management Regulations, which is available from any Council service centre or on the Council
website. Submissions may be:

set to hear evidence and submissions and the Council will make a decision on whether to
confirm, modify or, impose conditions on the requirement, or to withdraw the requirement. If
submitters are not satisfied with the decision they may then appeal to the Environment Court.

MILITARY EXERCISE
High-Explosive Grenade Practice
Wednesday 05 February 2020
The general public is to be advised that a
New Zealand Army Exercise will be conducted
in the West Melton Rifle Range area over the
period 05 February 2020.
The exercise will involve up to 40 personnel of
2nd/1st Battalion, Royal New Zealand Infantry
Regiment, from Burnham Military Camp.
Training will involve soldiers conducting a static
range practice utilising High-Explosive Grenades.
The activity will commence at 10:00am and will
be complete no later than 3:00pm. All firing
will take place at the West Melton Rifle Range
facilities, and will involve soldiers moving to and
from the Range by vehicle.
The New Zealand Army takes fire risk seriously
and will ensure fire mitigation is present.
