Welcome
As the first weeks of 2020 draw to a close, I hope it’s been a
productive time for you, whether that’s reflecting on your business and
career or planning for exciting promotions and career development for
the year ahead.
As we head towards spring, even though at the time of writing it’s
distinctly wintery outside, it’s an exciting time with many possibilities.
Whilst it’s great to plan ahead for your career or business, spend time
working on your ‘2020 vision’, and start introducing new products
and treatments to your clients, it’s important to make time to look after
yourself. After all, day after day you care for others, and your health
and wellbeing are just as important.
Being kind to ourselves is something many of us struggle with. We
spend our days making clients feel great about themselves, letting
them offload during their appointment, nurturing their wellbeing with
the aim of hoping they leave the salon feeling 100% better than when
they arrived. But do you invest time and energy caring for yourself?
This issue I’m delighted to reveal our latest columnist, Candice
Gardner of The International Dermal Institute and Dermalogica, who
starts 2020 with some fantastic advice on self-care. As she explains,
dedicating time to looking after yourself is not selfish, it’s vital for
your mental and physical wellbeing, as well as making sure you can
perform as a therapist, nail tech or stylist to your very best abilities. It’s
well worth taking time to absorb her words of wisdom on page 50.
Take this opportunity to put your feet up, relax and reflect on how you
can make yourself a priority.
Best wishes
