Construction Project Acceleration Part 1:
The concept of cost-time tradeoffs in construction projects
WEDNESDAY :: 9:30AM - 10:30AM
Dallas workshops
Construction Project Acceleration Part 2:
A numerical example for calculating the least-duration (crash duration) and least-cost duration
THURSDAY :: 9:30AM - 10:30AM
Target Audience: Builders and Contractors
Construction project compression is an extremely important issue for contractors and owners, yet it is one of the most
misunderstood concepts leading to tremendous waste of resources and money. It can even get worse when an acceleration
effort backfires and causes a delay in addition to the extra cost. The relationship between project cost and duration is intimate
and interesting. Some projects have a “must” completion date while other projects have the least cost as the #1 objective.
Contractors need to understand this relationship: Sort out and calculate all options, and then allow the owner to make an
educated decision. This seminar explains the cost-time relationship and the process of calculating the optimum durations; cost
wise and time wise.
Introduction To Concrete Imaging Radar
WEDNESDAY :: 9:30AM - 10:30AM
Target Audience: Builders and Contractors
We have provided Concrete Imaging Radar (CIR) services to clients on thousands of projects since 2000. We’ve
worked for property owners and managers, structural engineers, general contractors and mechanical, electrical and
plumbing contractors.
CIR can be used for:
• Locating embedded steel (rebar or mesh) post-tension (PT)
cables and utility conduits
• Detecting rebar patterns and spacing in cast-in-place slabs,
beams and columns
• Estimating concrete thickness and cover distance for
embedded steel and PT cables
• Detecting location of PT cables and voids within precast
concrete members
• Detecting voids underneath or within slabs
• Locating live electrical lines with the Live Electric Line
Detection feature
• Detecting presence of grout and rebar within masonry
structures
Construction Materials Testing Laboratory & 3rd Party Inspection Services
THURSDAY :: 9:30AM - 10:30AM
Target Audience: Builders and Contractors
This presentation is a general look at the on-site inspections and testing services provided by geotechnical engineering firms. We
will provide insight into the scope of services rendered by your third party inspectors, including the purpose of service, the value
in each service and how this information will assist the construction team.
This presentation will include the construction materials that are:
• Observed, such as Soil Fill Placements, Concrete
Placements
• Evaluated, such as Concrete Reinforcement
• Logged, such as Drilled Piers & Post-Tension Steel
• Tested, such as Soil Density, Ready-Mix Concrete
Giles has prepared this presentation to help you better understand what we do and why we do it, so you can form a good
relationship with your on-site 3rd Party Inspector.
