Achance for country women to shine<br />

Achallenge has beenissued to<br />
women attending the Amuri<br />
A&P showto become the first<br />
Dairy Women’s Network <strong>North</strong><br />
<strong>Canterbury</strong> Country Woman of<br />
the Year.<br />
All they have to do is overcome<br />
aseries of rurally inspired<br />
obstacles to win their waytothe<br />
coveted award.<br />
Entrants will be required to<br />
throw darts at aballoon board,<br />
milk afake cow, chop wood, back<br />
atrailer, shift hay bales and<br />
throw gumboots.<br />

and her husband cameupwith<br />
the competition as away of<br />
bringing people in the dairy<br />
industry together, along with<br />
otherwomen in <strong>North</strong><br />
<strong>Canterbury</strong> keen to nab the<br />
inaugural title.<br />
‘‘It would be cool for it to<br />
become an annualcompetition,’’<br />
Rebecca says.<br />
She was appointed aregional<br />
leader in July last year, but has<br />
beenin the Dairy Women’s<br />
Network for several years.<br />
She says her job involves<br />
planningevents for women in<br />
the dairy industry so they can<br />

share experiences, gain<br />
knowledge and enjoysocial<br />
interaction.<br />
The overall winner of the<br />
timed competition will receive<br />
the title of Dairy Women’s<br />
Network <strong>North</strong> <strong>Canterbury</strong><br />
Country Woman of the Year,<br />
along with aprize.<br />
There are also severalspot<br />
prizes to be won throughoutthe<br />
competition, which runs from<br />
10am alongside the Young<br />
Farmers area.<br />
It is free to enter.<br />
Entrants can register online by<br />
going to the NC Dairy Women’s<br />
Network Facebook pagebefore<br />
the event date, or registrations<br />
can be made on the day from<br />
8:30am.<br />
The competition is a<br />
partnershipbetween the<br />
network, the Primary ITO,and<br />
Meridian.<br />
Dairy NZ, Farm Source and<br />
Honda will be providing support<br />
with sponsorshipand gear.<br />
