Run or walk
for a
good cause
THE 46TH running of the Les
Mills City2Surf will be held on
Sunday and this year’s event
looks set to be one of the biggest
in recent times.
Runners, joggers and walkers
of all fitness levels will take on
either the 14km or 6km options,
both finishing at Ferrymead
Playing Fields.
Event organiser Jon Holmes
says entries are up on last year’s
event which attracted close to
8000 participants.
“It doesn’t matter if you
haven’t trained. Either distance
can be walked. It’s just about
getting out on a Sunday morning,
getting a breath of fresh
air and doing something that
gets the heart pumping,” said
Holmes.
The 14km event starts at 9am
at Pioneer Stadium, and the
6km event starts at 10am at
Hansens Park, all culminating
for a massive finish at Ferrymead
where there will be
plenty of entertainment and
prizes on offer.
Participants will also have free
entry into Ferrymead Historic
Park.
“We’re going fizzy-free again
this year. We’ve also changed
from a free Powerade to a
free Pump at the finish line.
That’s another step in the right
direction for health,” said
Holmes.
This year’s partner charity is
the Prostate Cancer Foundation
of New Zealand. If you wish to
The city council has provided
Pegasus Post with the number of
public consultation on priorities
set out by community boards.
34 people had their say online
on the Coastal-Burwood
Community Board’s priorities
NO STOPPING RESTRICTIONS
Plans for the proposed nostopping
restrictions on Perth
St, Richmond are now open for
feedback. This follows requests
from local residents to install
restrictions on the narrow road
as parked cars on both sides of
the street have made it difficult
for vehicles to pass by, with
P5 parking restrictions often
ignored. Consultation closes on
SEWER RENEWALS
Works have started this week on
the renewal of sewers on Pascoe
Ave as they were reaching the
end of its life. The road will be
closed while the sewer is relaid,
with property access potentially
blocked off during working
hours; residents will be notified in
advance. Traffic management will
be installed and on-road parking
will not be available. Works are
expected to last for two months.
